									                     CLASSIFIED OBITUARY

GRIFFIS, Mr. James Bennie Jr. "Griff" - Age 53, died
Wednesday, November 27, 1996 at Hurley Medical Center.
Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, December 3, 1996 at the St.
Mark Missionary Baptist Church, 615 W. McClellan. The funeral
service commencing immediately at 11AM. Dr. J.S. Hopkins
officiating. Interment Lovedale Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd.
Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM
Tuesday. Mr. Griffis now lies in state in the Chapel of the
Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and
may be viewed after 11AM today. Mr. James Bennie Griffis, Jr.
"Griff" was born March 29, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of
Mr. and Mrs. James and Ernestine (Turner) Griffis, Sr., and had
been a resident of Flint most of his life. He attended Flint
Public Schools, and was employed with Martin Leasing as a
truck driver over 20 years. James enjoyed running, biking, and
working on his computer. He leaves to cherish his memory:
wife, Debbie Griffis; 6 children, Jamie and Terrence Griffis,
Corry, Tyrone, Randy, and Wendy Gilbert; 10 grandchildren;
mother, Ernestine (Roy) Turner; 2 sisters, Beatrice Griffis and
Marthella Williams; 2 brothers, Arthur L. (Cleola) Griffis, Sr. and
Jack Thornton; 2 aunts, Eloise and Beulah of Chicago, IL;
stepdaughter, Wieneke Williams; a host of nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends including special niece, Jade Griffis;
special cousin, Charles Cantrell of Chicago, IL; special friend,
Jean Taylor and family. Mr. Griffis was preceded in death by his
father, James B. Griffis, Sr.; 2 sister, Mary Thornton and Helen
T. Griffis; grandparents, Harold and Helen Wilson, stepfather,
Charlie B. Thornton.
