Senior Process Engineer
Must have University Bachelor or equivalent degree in mineral processing or allied discipline
and a demonstrated desire to commit to ongoing education through participating in training
opportunities. Minimum 7 years experience however prefer 10+ years.
The role involves all process engineering activities associated with Fluor’s nickel projects,
reporting to the Process Technology Manager.
A pro-active involvement in the dynamics of the process engineering role in project execution
is required. Must be prepared to veto, if necessary, design suggestions that do not adhere to
The role requires an ability to work in a collaborative manner with other project execution
disciplines, to assist business development initiatives through technical presentations to client
groups, and to assist other process engineers where time and opportunity permit.
Ideally we are seeking candidates with experience in
All aspects of process design, including in a lead capacity, of a number of nickel
metal recovery installations, including at least one major custom-designed installation
featuring extensive SCADA/DCS operation.
Process design of other base metal mineral processing plants would be considered
favourably, subject to adequate nickel plant design experience.
Field commissioning of completed designs in varied geographical regions, in a
leading process role.
Technical management of nickel production operations would be considered
Candidates will be proficient in MS Office. Other skills such as Metsim, and the standard
Fluor process group automation tools are useful but not essential. A proven desire and
capability to acquire competence in the use of new software tools is however important.
The candidate will be a self-starter. There will be periods of “technical isolation” where
supervisory input is not necessarily available on a short-term basis. Must be able to assess the
options and select a path-forward If necessary, whilst maintaining communication both
upwards and downwards.
Additionally, this person must be prepared to spend time educating other project disciplines,
on an ad-hoc basis, as to the objectives of the process design so that the general design effort
is focused on the optimum process outcome.
An ability to present ideas effectively to individuals and groups (with appropriate time to
prepare) is essential.
