physically active than they did in the past?

When you are thinking about your answer think about the
conveniences that we have now in comparison to in the
past as far as our physical health.

Eating junk food, getting no exercise, staying up
late. She had little energy and slipping grades.

How did Ladonna change her life? How did she
feel afterward?

Health problems such as blood pressure, heart disease, and cancer, are

When you set personal goals for your health you should remember to:

Fitness is important to everyone.

The Element of Fitness

2. Endurance~ your ability to use energy over a period of
   time without getting tired.

   range of movements available to them.

Get Up and Move!

A good way to stay active is to make physical activity a
normal part of your lifestyle.

You should set a goal to achieve at least 60 minutes of
physical activity a day.

You must drink plenty of water during physical activity to
avoid dehydration. Dehydration is an excessive loss of
body fluids that can lead to muscle cramps, dizziness,
and nausea.

A Healthy Weight

Regular activity and sensible eating will help you maintain a
healthy weight.

Because weight is a complex issue that involves a number of
factors you should understand that these factors include:

What is your body image?

Overall your body image is the mental concept that you have of your physical
appearance.

As a teenager or an adult we all find ourselves having some type of issue with
our body image. We have thoughts that we are too fat, too thin, or too tall, etc.

Who is a celebrity that you feel their body image is something similar to what
you wish your body image could imitate?

Always remember instead of trying to look like someone else always focus on
maintaining a weight is healthy for your particular body.

Smart Weight Management

Weight management is a matter of energy balance.
Food supplies you with energy, and physical activity
uses energy.

Calories are measured in units called energy.

Overweight can lead to health concerns such as obesity.

Underweight can lead to health concerns such as eating
disorders.

Eating disorders are extreme eating behaviors that
can lead to serious health problems and even death.

Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder that involves an extreme urge to
lose weight by starving oneself.

A person with anorexia drastically reduce the amount of food they eat.
They resist the efforts of parents and friends as they eat less and work
out more.

Bulimia Nervosa is when someone eats quickly and
excessively. This is then followed by vomiting, fasting,
exercise, laxatives or medicine in order to avoid an increase in
weight.

Binge eating is when someone eats too much
in periods as a consequence of a craving for food
which exceeds your real nutritional needs.

An obsessive dieter is someone who thinks a lot
about your weight and figure but not so much that you
belong to the "Partial Syndrome" group.

Your Appropriate Weight

You can not tell whether your weight is right for you just by just
looking in a mirror or getting on a scale.

You can calculate your appropriate weight for your age by
using the Body Mass Index (BMI) chart.

The BMI uses weight in relation to height and age to help
determine whether you are in an appropriate weight range.

Think of a habit, situation, individual(s) that is/has affected
your health. While writing this, you may write a simple 5-7
sentence paragraph expressing your thoughts, a poem, rap song,
or short story. Minimum you need a paragraph, but you may
write as much as you like in order to express your thought. As
you are writing think about how this habit, situation,
individual(s) affects your HEALTH. Explain to me what you
are going to do to change so this will not affect your health
anymore. This information will not be discussed and will be
submitted upon completion of your thoughts to me.
