AIM:

       The main aim of the project is to maintain the speed of the AC motor uniform.

PURPOSE:


      The purpose of this project is to avoid damages to the heavy machinery due to high load.
To meet this requirement we have designed an embedded system, which takes all necessary
action to handle the situation in an efficient manner.

DESCRIPTION:

    The basic idea of this project is to maintain the speed of the motor Step wise i.e., in this
method PWM technique is used. In this technique duty cycle concept is used for controlling the
speed. If motor is given a supply for 10 second and it is not given a supply for 90 second by
using PWM then motor will move with speed 10% of its rated speed and like wise. The speed of
the motor can be displaying on LCD. For this application we are connect Keypad for giving
fixed speed.(i.e.10%,20% etc) in Duty cycles.

    A machine that converts electrical power into mechanical power is called Motor. If it works
on DC power it is called D.C motor otherwise A.C motor. TRIAC are used in speed control
circuits of A.C motors to get high reliable operations at large currents. Various methods are
available to control the speed of the A.C motor; here we are controlling the motor speed by
changing the voltage applied to motor.

    In this system embedded controller is used to produce the triggering pulses needed by the
TRIAC. TRIAC further controls motor speed. Embedded controller also handles the process of
maintaining constant speed by comparing with the threshold or predefined value. With the help
of this system we can have continuous monitor over the speed of the motor. Here in this project
we are going to interface keypad to the microcontroller for varying the speed. Different keys in
keypad are assigned to different speeds. When we press particular key then motor will rotate at
that speed and that speed will be displayed on LCD.

    Hence by this project the AC motor speed is controlled by using the TRIAC.
