Questions & Answers
Question 1: Do any all of these antennas have de-icing. This is significant
since deicing will take a long time to remove/replace during the refurbishment.
Answer: None of the antennas in the contract have functioning de-icing systems.
No heating pads need to be removed or replaced.
Question 2: If they have deicing, is it to be painted?
Answer: N/A, see answer one.
Question 3: Each antenna must have working motors and controllers in order to
perform baseline testing. Are all systems working properly?
Answer: All antennas are fully functional. We will perform the before and after
RF receive pattern tests as stipulated in the contract.
Question 4: Does the customer require both receive and transmit patterns, on all
polarizations, before and after? We recommend only receive since it will be
sufficient to set a “baseline.” However, if the customer desires transmit
patterns, will they provide a “cooperating” earth station and space segment or do
we provide.
Answer: All antennas are “receive” only. Transmit baselines are N/A.
Question 5: Replacement hardware, if not available locally (sometime it is
peculiar to the antenna type/manufacturer) may require several days to acquire.
Usually, panel assembly hardware removed from an antenna will have a 30-40%
failure rate (corroded, breaks, etc). Is the customer aware of the hardware
condition and willing to accept extended downtime to acquire it if necessary?
Answer: There is no unique panel assembly hardware. Contractor shall mobilize
with sufficient hardware to replace as necessary.
