Prefect Roles, Responsibilities and Privileges
All prefects are expected to lead by example. They are expected, therefore, to be
exemplary in their conduct, attitude and uniform. Their roles, responsibilities and
privileges will include:
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES YEAR 11 PREFECTS:
To help staff supervise all students in school during lunch times. They must
report to the member of staff on duty in their designated area and supervise
other students as requested by the member of staff.
House Captains are responsible for motivation and organisation of pupils for
all House Activities. They should work closely with Achievement Managers.
Head Boy and Head Girl and their deputies to form a Prefect Council with
responsibilities to monitor the other prefects in their performance of their
duties on duty day.
The Prefect Council will organise prefects to attend parent’s evenings and
other after school events where necessary, keep records of those prefects that
attend after school activities, manage the Prefect of the Half Term Awards,
circulating to staff nomination form and support and train the Junior Prefects
in the performance of their duties. The deputies will take responsibility for
chairing KS3 & 4 School Council meetings
Prefects without specific roles will be expected to support staff wherever
possible – this means taking a proactive approach, asking staff if they can help
rather than waiting to be asked.
PRIVILEGES:
Rewards for those prefects that perform their duties satisfactorily. Four
rewards in the year. One at the end of the first half of the autumn term, one at
the end of the second half of the autumn term. Followed by one towards the
end of the spring term and one at the end of the first half of the summer term.
These may be trips or other privileges, to be negotiated by the Prefect Council.
Prefects nominated for the Prefect of the Half Term awards.
