                           Job Description – Medical Receptionist

JOB TITLE:                    MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST
RESPONSIBLE TO:               Reception Supervisor / Practice Manager

JOB PURPOSE :                  Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate
                                service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and
                                effective way.
                               Provide assistance to the Doctors, Practice Manager, Accounts
                                Manager and other practice staff in the pursuit of their duties.


                            MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1.     Greet and direct all patients and visitors within the practice.
  2.     Respond to patient and visitor requests appropriately.
         Answer incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected
  3.     accordingly.
  4.     Operate computerised appointments system in line with practice protocols.
         Work all reception desks and have thorough knowledge of relevant practice protocols to
  5.     ensure the smooth running of these areas.
  6.     Retrieve and re-file patient medical records.
  7.     Carry out start and end of day procedures as per practice guidelines.
         Maintain effective liaison with practice staff and outside agencies concerned with patient
  8.     care with appropriate regard to confidentiality.

         requested from time-to-time.

  Good standard of general education                                            
  Good keyboard skills to include knowledge of MS excel

   spreadsheets.

  Proven numeracy skills                                                        
  Excellent communication skills                                                
  Willingness to accept change                                                  
  Be able to prioritise workload                                                
  European Computer Driving Licence                                                         
