Mrs. Mississippi America 2009 Crowned

Southaven, Mississippi: Suzanne Duckworth, of Ridgeland, Mississippi was crowned Mrs. Mississippi
America 2009 Saturday evening, June 20th in Southaven. Mrs. Duckworth will represent the married women of
Mississippi in the 2010 Mrs. America Pageant on September 8, 2009 at the beautiful Loew’s Ventana Canyon
Resort in Tucson, Arizona. The Mrs. Mississippi America Pageant is the Official State Preliminary to the Mrs.
America Pageant. 30 year old Suzanne is married to Matt Duckworth, and she is a Registered Nurse. Suzanne
was crowned by Mrs. Mississippi 2008, Helen McDaniel, 45, of Ridgeland.

To qualify, contestants must have been at least 18 years of age, married, a resident of Mississippi for at least 6
months (residency at a military base was acceptable) and of good moral character. Contestants were judged in 4
categories including personal interview, beauty, swimsuit and evening gown, each worth 25% of her total score.

The Mrs. Mississippi court included, Heather Ward, Mrs. Flowood, 1st Runner-Up and Deanna Attaway, Mrs.
Gulf Coast, 2nd Runner-Up. Additional awards were given for Mrs. Fitness (Swimsuit Award) which went to
Heather Ward, Mrs. Flowood; Best Smile, Mrs. Congeniality and Top Ad Sales awards all went to April
Perkins, Mrs. Hancock County; and Mrs. Photogenic was Suzanne Duckworth, Mrs. Madison County; In
addition a special Director’s Award was presented to Shannon Brown, Mrs. Madison.

The Mrs. Mississippi Pageant focuses on the beauty and accomplishments of married women, with pageant
judges looking for contestants who are not only beautiful, but articulate, and well rounded. The contestant’s
days may be focused on family, career, civic duties, or a combination of all. No matter what her age or
occupation, the woman selected as Mrs. Mississippi is the judge’s choice for the best representative of the
married woman of today.
