National Honor Society
Personal Data Sheet
SCHOLARSHIP is one of the four areas of excellence required for
admission to the National Honor Society. To be eligible for admission
into the Brandon Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society a
student must have achieved a 3.4 grade point or better by the end of
the 1st semester of their junior year.
LEADERSHIP is considered highly important for membership
selection. It can include offices held, as well as effective participation
in co-curricular activities. Leadership roles in both the school and the
community are considered.
SERVICE is generally considered to be those actions undertaken by
the student which are done with or on behalf of others without any
direct financial or material compensation to the individual performing
the service. In considering service, the contributions a candidate has
made to school, classmates, and community, as well as the student’s
attitude toward service can be reviewed.
CHARACTER is probably the most difficult criterion to define. The
National Honor Society defines a person of character as one who
demonstrates the following six qualities: respect, responsibility,
trustworthiness, fairness, citizenship, and caring. . An assessment of
your character is made by the entire faculty.
The National Honor Society by-laws address the issue of drugs and
alcohol. Members are automatically dismissed if they consume any
amount of an illegal substance. Any student charged with a school or
legal violation of alcohol, tobacco, controlled substance for
possession or consumption within the last 12 months will not be
eligible for admission to the National Honor Society during that 12
months. Any student with 2 violations during their high school career
will not be eligible at any point for admission into National Honor

tobacco, alcohol, or controlled substance (possession or
consumption) or faced criminal charges during high school?
If yes, please state the date of the incident and the nature of the
