Assemblymember Luis Alejo on President Obama’s Announcement on
                        Immigration Policy

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Luis A. Alejo (D-Salinas) today released the following
statement regarding President Barack Obama’s executive order to allow young
undocumented immigrants to work in the United States and avoid deportation:

“I commend President Obama on his leadership to bring desperately needed relief
to hundreds of thousands of young men and women who came to this country as
children at no fault of their own, who have worked hard and have lived honest
lives,” says Assemblymember Alejo. “Our local communities are filled with young,
talented and hardworking men and women that make significant contributions to
our neighborhoods, our cities and our country. President Obama’s policy decision
on this issue recognizes those contributions and will allow our young people to
realize their full potential and be leaders for California.”

Luis Alejo represents the 28th District in the California State Assembly, which consists of
San Benito County, the Salinas Valley, North Monterey County, South Santa Clara County
and the city of Watsonville.
