with (*) are available only after 20CP at 2000-level has been completed or with permission of the lecturer.
Students entering this Major are recommended to have some background in musical study, in particular an
elementary ability to read musical notation. Students who wish to upgrade their theory knowledge might
consider enrolling in Music Theory or Aural Studies foundation courses prior to embarking on the Major.
Please note that while the courses in the Major are Repertoire/Literature based, familiarity with basic musical
terminology and music theory is assumed. If you are in doubt about this, please contact the Conservatorium.
For suitably qualified students, other courses offered at the Queensland Conservatorium may be approved for
inclusion in the Major with the permission of both the Conservatorium and the Faculty of Arts.
Students who wish to be eligible to apply for entry into the Graduate Diploma of Education - Secondary
program with Music as a teaching area may need to have completed additional studies in music theory and
other courses (consult the Faculty of Education for further advice).
