 Is the concept of cyborgs - part
  human, part machine, just science



undertake some
research about cyborgs
and write a short report
explaining what you
have found out.
            YOUR TASK 2
 Remember to give real life examples
    and where possible include relevant
images. Also, make sure that you
    discuss the ethical issues, the
    advantages and the disadvantages
    which might arise by someone
    becoming a cyborg.
            BE CREATIVE
 Create a design by hand to show
how you think a future cyborg might
look and add this to your report.
Annotate your design to explain your
    ideas
       WHERE TO LOOK
 Include a bibilography to show the

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
          AT LEVEL 3
 Find out what cyborgs are.
 Collect some information and
  pictures about cyborgs and the
  things that already happen.
  WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
        AT LEVEL 4
In addition to the level 3 tasks:
 You need to think about the way cyborg
technology could change your life and the life of
your family and friends. Explain the
    advantages and disadvantages.
 You need to collect ideas, information and
pictures from more than one place and
combine them. Make sure you say where
    they come from.
 You need to take into account the needs of
your audience – decide whether your
report is for children or adults.
 WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
        AT LEVEL 5
In addition to the level 3 & 4 tasks:
 Ask your family and friends what they think of
cyborgs and cyborg technology. Are their views
  the same as yours?

Extension work

In the film ‘I, Robot’, the main robot character
(Sonny) asked questions about being human and
having your own mind. In ‘The Terminator’, the
cyborgs were mindless automatons. Do you
think robots or cyborgs could ever be seen as
human? Explain why or why not.
           AND FINALLY…..
 As a bit of fun, you can find out your
    own CYBORG NAME
