									THEME: THE PILGRIM
TOPIC: JESUS: OUR ROLE MODEL
TEXT: MATTHEW 11:29
INTRODUCTION:

The topic before us says Jesus our role model which literally means that Jesus must be our
example as children of God. As we go deeper into the word may God open our eyes to see
deeper things and grace to be like Jesus. Amen.

By way of introduction, “role model” means a person that you admire and try to copy. Jesus, our
role model then means Jesus whom we admire and want to be like. Meaning – we want to do
what He did and go to where He is – heaven.

In this definition there are two major responsibility of believers who will like to be like Jesus
(admire and try – like and action).

In Phil. 3:17 Paul boldly said they should be copied, why? Because he was sure of the message
of the gospel and where they are going to. In 1st Thessalonians 1:7, we need to live an exemplary
life to all that believe. 1st Tim. 4:12.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO BE LIKE JESUS

   1. Matt. 11:29, Ps. 37:11, Matt 5:5, Phil. 2: 5 – 8. Meekness.
   2. Ps. 51:10, Acts 15:19. A pure heart.
   3. Matt. 6:24. Serve only one Master (Jesus).
   4. Matt. 12:50. Do the will of the Father.
   5. Matt. 25: 34 – 40, Gal. 2:10. Be kind to others.
   6. Rom. 15:1. Bear the burden of others.

HOW CAN I BECOME LIKE JESUS?

   1. Reading the word. Joshua 1:8, 2nd Tim. 2:15
   2. Meditating on the word. Joshua 1:8, 1st Tim. 4:15
   3. Practicing the word. James 1:23,
   4. Relying on the Holy Spirit. 2nd Corinthians 3:18,
   5. Fellowshipping with other believers. Hebrews 10: 24 – 25

CONCLUSION

Conclusively our text describes what we must do to be like Jesus which is a meek and lowly
heart. Outside this it will be impossible to make it to heaven which is our ultimate goal.
Becoming like Jesus is not by wishing but by living and practicing what He did. Thanks God for
the assurance in John 14:12.
