MORNING SESSION - 15 EVALUATIONS WERE COMPLETED

Was the seminar what you expected? YES 12 NO 1 2 x NO MARK
Please explain
 Speakers good. Interesting subjects.
 Very interesting
 I have attended a similar one a while back
 More information about developments for service, support, group sessions for young people and those with mental health issues

Is there anything specific that you have heard about today that you would like to see in your own area?
 Open up postcode areas, inequality exists across postcodes throughout city
 Pharmacy Rx to everyone in all areas as it doesn’t matter where you live if you pay for prescriptions you pay!
 All postcodes should be covered
 Online system – deciding on nearest class/pharmacy for patients and referring there and then
 Pharmacy project in DD5
 Smoking cessation services in the acute sector
 Pharmacy service. Postcodes – Crieff, Comrie, Auchterarder etc i.e. free prescriptions
 Less exclusions from eligibility for supply under PGD – especially postcode restrictions!
 Hospital referral to us in pharmacy
 No
 Lay worker support
 Smoking cessation co-ordinator within hospital setting

What is the most important thing for you that came out of today’s seminar?
 Learning about the Community Pharmacy Project
 Latest posts coming in and Rx availability and post code restrictions
 Still no info re support for 12-18 yr
 Awareness of benefits of organised smoking cessation service
 National minimum dataset info. Change in NRT guidelines. Acute hosp service/prison service
 Opportunity to hear what is going on elsewhere
 Information concerning activities in secondary care
 Appreciate practice nurses approach
 Pharmacy work – need for more postcode work. Use of lay health workers
 Rolling out the pharmacy postcode NRT for 12-18 year olds
 Contact Elvi for pack with minimum data set info
 Everyone enthusiastic about smoking cessation
 Update and networking
 That unstable cardiac patients can be given NRT!!

How could we have improved the seminar?
 More insulated jugs for tea/coffee to avoid hold up at machine. More information on combination therapy
 Timings. More participation from those attending
 More participation e.g. workshop groups discussing the plans etc
 Introduction or idea of other peoples role
 Excellent
 Look at projects in Scotland who do look at 12-18 yr olds
 Having new teaching materials available, my pack was given in 1994

Are there other issues/ideas that you would like to suggest for a future update?
 Yearly updates would be very beneficial – at least
 Any new theory on behaviour change, what’s the latest success theory idea – research i.e. Monkland patient questionnaire
 As above (projects looking at 12-18yr olds). School projects
 6 monthly
 Mandatory for trainers and counsellors. Available every 6 months to give more opportunity for part-time staff to attend
 Cannabis use – harm reduction
 Cannabis use and the barrier this poses to smoking cessation
 Plans/progress an adapting smoking cessation group sessions contact and delivery for young people. Specific information with regard to individuals with
mental health issues – mild to moderate antidepressants – support available Rx
 Inform staff of free car parking at rear if at this venue. Updates – 6 monthly would be great!
 Results from audit would be good

Any other comments?
 Very informative and varied
 Well organised. Enjoyed content. Updates once a year
 Positive learning day
 12 monthly updates please
 Please note there are community workers within HLI carrying out smoking cessation. This was missed of the list
 Books available in smoking cessation classes. I know health education has them and I can access those, but if we had them we could show the at each
   class
 Regular update – at least yearly
                                                                  EVALUATION

AFTERNOON SESSION - 12 EVALUATIONS WERE COMPLETED

Was the seminar what you expected? YES 11 NO 0 1 x NO MARK
Please explain
 Would have liked more NRT available at seminar e.g. Bupropion. Would like to have shared expertise between colleagues
 Project info – more indepth update

Is there anything specific that you have heard about today that you would like to see in your own area?
 Postcode prescribing at community pharmacies should be banned – should be available to all
 First speaker from Forth Valley was of great interest to me and I look forward to a similar service in Tayside
 Hospital initiated smoking cessation service
 Smoking cessation officers in Ninewells
 I feel we offer quite a good service in our area
 Smoking cessation for housebound e.g. sheltered housing!
 Hospital based smoking cessation service
 Electronic database

What is the most important thing for you that came out of today’s seminar?
 Further relevant info
 Have felt isolated in hospital and unsure of the value of the service I provide within the constraints of clinical setting
 Importance of changing way we treat hospitalised people who smoke. Motivation for smoke free environment even in prison
 Pharmacist update
 Prescribing info
 More aware of the “postcode” division. I’m not from the Dundee area so unaware of postcodes
 Postcode lottery should be scrapped, all smokers need help, working or unemployed!!!
 Postcodes – a universal service requires to be promoted to all
 Future smoking cessation co-ordinator in the acute sector
 Knowing that THB will soon have a smoking cessation post for acute services definitely help TPCT
 Motivational incentives useful in prison. Community pharmacy project info and postcode areas

 Smoking cessation is something I would like to take further in my area (ENT OPD) and would value any advice on how to do this
 Enjoyed external speakers with different perspectives
 Discard postcode prescribing
 Incorporate all postcodes into the chemist smoking cessation groups
 Definitely feel that postcodes need to be abolished
 I feel hospital nursing/midwifery staff require time to attend smoking cessation (and other training)
 Smoking cessation in the prison service – very enjoyable. ?To abolish postcode prescribing
 Enjoyable afternoon
 Good to update current practices
 Roll out community pharmacy project over all postcodes

Comment on bottom of one evaluation
P.S. for No Smoking Day I was trying to find the Helpline number cards – tried 2 practices but not found – is it worthwhile for Elvi to email all smoking
cessation people to check supplies at their surgeries i.e. on front desk (I may just have been unlucky)
