                             MARCH NEWSLETTER

Howdy ladies,

Thank you to those of you who attended our Silent Auction and Chili Cook – Off. We trust you
had a fun evening. We were able to auction off a number of great items and our members and
guests got some great deals. Our thanks to the following members who donated items: Karen
Abernathy, Cathy Alexander, Rhonda Attaway, Kerri Blanton, Donna Ciarkowski, Pam Clark,
Lynn Darst, Juleigh Davenport, Robin Fielding, Mary Frey, Teri Guzak, Paula Ice, Pat King, Janice
Kirk, Carol Lampard, Melissa Lancaster, Paula Marone, Marge Oslick, Janice Piggott, Julie
Porter, Debbie Schneider, Sharon Smith, Pat Studey, Phyllis Weigum, Kathy Wilcox, Sarah
Wood. There were a number of very generous businesses both locally and in College Station
that donated to our cause and we are very grateful to them and our members who helped to
raise over $2400. We also had thirteen chili entries, and thank each of you that brought your
favorite chili.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, March 18 @ 6:30 pm – Pantego Lions Club building. Former
aggie Chewy Redding ’97 will be our guest speaker. Chewy is a member of the Ft. Worth A&M
Club and is in charge of this year’s local Muster. He will make a short presentation and then
we will learn about some of the organizations on campus that are on our list of possible
candidates for donations this year. It’ll be a great way to get informed about some
organizations that maybe you child in involved with or may want to become involved with. This
will be a Potluck dinner and we hope to have a large crowd of ladies. Come for some great
fellowship as we will have lots of time to chat at this meeting. We will also be taking
nominations for next year’s Board members. We would invite each of you to think seriously
about becoming a member of our Board. We have a lot of fun as Board members and would
love to have YOU join us. Please contact any Board member if you are interested.
For those of you with high school seniors don’t forget to check out our website to print off a
scholarship application from our Club. Current A&M students are also welcome to send us
an application. We hope to give at least five $1000 scholarships this year, so please check out
our site.

It’s time to order Spring Study Kits! We’ve got a great package with lots of goodies for our
students, so again, go to our website and download the form, fill it out and send it in to Linton
with your check for $15.00. The deadline to order is right around the corner so hurry and send
in your forms. We will be handing out the kits during Parent’s Weekend and will let you know
the specific times for picking them up.
Speaking of Parent’s Weekend, hopefully you’ve gotten your hotel rooms by now. Chances are
all rooms are taken, but it doesn’t hurt to continue calling some of the hotels to see if they’ve
had any cancellations. Some parents end up having to stay in nearby towns due to lack of
rooms. Hint… make your reservations for next year before August to make sure you get a room.
If you haven’t been to Parent’s Weekend before, you will learn that the Aggie Mom Boutique
which takes place on Friday and Saturday, is the biggest thing going. Aggie Moms Clubs from all
over Texas and beyond, set up their wares for sale on the floor of Reed Arena. It is quite an
unbelievable sight. There, you will find anything and everything you would ever want enscribed
with Texas A&M or some reference to A&M. This is one of our Club’s biggest money makers
and we need your help. We have two very dedicated Board members who are in charge of our
Boutique who need help manning the tables over that two day period. The shifts are set up in
two hour cells, but if you can only work an hour, we’ll take it! We desperately need your help
so that these two ladies are not there for 8-9 hours straight each day. Please contact Debbie
Schneider @ for questions or to sign up. Husbands are welcome
to help too! For more information on Parent’s Weekend, see our website.

Happy Birthday! Greetings to the following Aggie Moms whose birthdays are in March.
Jennifer Alexander, Kelli Bartlett, Kerri Blanton, Stacy Bogle, Lisa
Boothe, Moira Burnker, Karen Logos, Doris Gray, Rosalind Homiller,
JuneKelley Marnicik, Becky Meyers, Roxanne Pillar, Terrie Sparks.
We hope you all have a great celebration on your special day!

Is your student looking for a place to live this summer in College Station ? Here is some information
from one of our moms…My daughter will graduate in May and is looking for someone to sublease her apartment
for the summer. The lease could then be assumed for the next school year. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo with
washer/dryer and 2car garage. Rent for the condo is $1200/month—shared 3 ways. Location: 1311 Canyon
Creek. If interested, call Shannon McNeil @ 817-223-2570

Finally, did you know… that Texas A&M University is a leader in cloning research? It is the
world’s only institution to have cloned six different species: cat, swine, goat, horse, cattle and
white-tailed deer.

We’ll hope to see you on Tuesday, March 18! Thanks and gig ‘em!
