Bali – The Star Island of Indonesia
Mention Bali, the star island of Indonesia to anyone who has been there and you
will get a dreamy sigh. The near perfect beaches of Bali sure bake you to a crisp
golden brown but there is much more to it than just this. Indonesia has nearly
18,000 islands of which Bali has always been the star attraction. Although it has
been a prominent destination with tourists for quite some time now, you can still
feel the magic in the fresh air of the island.
Bali has something for everyone from the backpacker touring on shoestring budget
to the liberal handed honeymooner. Bali deals will please everyone especially
because there is so much to do in Bali than just idling on the beach or go
sightseeing. You can surf, try scuba diving, visit Hindu Temples climb a volcano or

From beginners to professionals Bali has been frequented by surfers since 1930s.
Conditions for surfing here are excellent all year round thanks to the positioning of
the small islands in the Indian ocean, you can even surf in the rainy season which is
normally considered off-season. You can learn surfing on the Kuta Beach which has
hoards of surf schools as well as independent instructors. Surfing boards are
available for rent here. With no dangerous reef around that you need to be scared
of and the presence of the lifeguards makes Kuta Beach ideal for the beginners.
After cutting a few waves here you can move to the challenging Medewi Beach and
the aptly-named Dreamland. In a country that’s mostly Islamic by religion, Bali
stands out for being predominantly Hindu. The island is dotted with beautiful Hindu
temples and other sacred sites that are a must visit. The most sacred one is the
Pura Besakih which is a massive temple collection built on the slopes of the active
volcano Gunung Agung in East Bali. In central Bali is the Goa Gajah, the elephant
cave. This ancient mysterious site has a menacing mouth for an entrance.
If you are the adventurous type you may like to climb a volcano. Indonesia has
over 120 active volcanoes with Bali having some of the most cooperative ones.
Volcanoes in Bali provide some great trekking opportunities; you can either go
independently or take the help of local guides. One of the most popular one is the
Gunung Batur in North Bali. The volcano is active but you can still find tourists
hiking the steep slope to get a view of the incredible jungle surrounding the
volcano. All in all Bali deals will never cease to surprise you.
