									Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme in Government Logistics Department

The 2012 Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme has been launched. The Programme provides internship
placement opportunities for students who are permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR)
and are currently enrolled in full-time courses of post-secondary institutions locally or overseas. The following internship
placement opportunities in Government Logistics Department are now available for application:


(1)   Summer Intern (Procurement 1)
      No. of vacancy :             1
      Duration :                   About 2 months, tentatively starting from late June 2012 to early September 2012
      Entry requirements :         Applicants should be :
                                   (a) Permanent residents of HKSAR;
                                   (b) Students undergoing full-time studies in post-secondary institutions in the 2012/13
                                        academic year; and
                                   (c) Full-time students who have completed second year in post-secondary institutions
                                        with academic background in Logistics / Business Studies or related subjects.
      Duties :                     (a) To assist in the implementation of environmental specifications for purchases and
                                        compilation of green product purchase statistics;
                                   (b) To assist in conducting market research; and
                                   (c) To assist in general office work on need basis.
      Office venue :               North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong.
      Salary :                     $7,700 per month
(2)   Summer Intern (Procurement 2)
      No. of vacancy :             3
      Duration :                   About 2 months, tentatively starting from late June 2012 to early September 2012
      Entry requirements :         Applicants should be :
                                   (a) Permanent residents of HKSAR;
                                   (b) Students undergoing full-time studies in post-secondary institutions in the 2012/13
                                        academic year; and
                                   (c) Full-time students who have completed second year in post-secondary institutions
                                        with academic background in Logistics / Business Studies or related subjects.
      Duties :                     (a) To assist in preparing draft correspondence e.g. letters, memoranda and fax
                                        messages;
                                   (b) To check the progress of key milestones in a procurement cycle (e.g. tender
                                        progress, contractor performance and renewal of contract) and compilation of
                                        procurement statistics; and
                                   (c) To assist in general office work on need basis.
      Office venue :               North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong.
      Salary :                     $7,700 per month

(3)   Summer Intern (Procurement 3)
      No. of vacancy :            1
      Duration :                  About 2 months, tentatively starting from late June 2012 to early September 2012
      Entry requirements :        Applicants should be:
                                  (a) Permanent residents of HKSAR;
                                  (b) Students undergoing full-time studies in post-secondary institutions in the 2012/13
                                       academic year; and
                                  (c) Full-time students who have completed second year in post-secondary institutions
                                       with academic background in Logistics / Business Studies or related subjects.
      Duties :                    (a) To assist in the review of the supplier lists of the Government Logistics
                                       Department;
                                  (b) To update documents of ISO management systems; and
                                  (c) To assist in general office work on need basis.
      Office venue :              North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong.
      Salary :                    $7,700 per month

(4)   Summer Intern (Technical Support & Vehicle Standards & Fleet Information Management Units)
      No. of vacancy :             1
      Duration :                   about 1.5 months, tentatively starting from early July 2012
      Entry requirements :         Applicants should be:
                                   (a) Permanent residents of HKSAR;
                                   (b) Students undergoing full-time studies in post-secondary institutions in the 2012/13
                                        academic year; and
                                   (c) Full-time students who will study Year 2 or Year 3 of the Higher Diploma in
                                        Transport and Logistics Studies offered by any post-secondary institutions, or
                                        equivalent.
      Duties :                     (a) To assist in conducting market research;
                                   (b) To research on the approved Environmental-Friendly vehicles and establish a
                                        database; and
                                   (c) To check the accuracy and consistency of vehicle information from the printed
                                        reports against the data sheets.
      Office venue :               North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong.
      Salary :                     $7,700 per month

(5)   Summer Intern (Management & Review Unit)
      No. of vacancy :            1
      Duration :                  About 1.5 months, tentatively starting from early July 2012
      Entry requirements :        Applicants should be:
                                  (a) Permanent residents of HKSAR;
                                  (b) Students undergoing full-time studies in post-secondary institutions in the 2012/13
                                       academic year; and
                                  (c) Full-time students who will study Year 2 or Year 3 of the Higher Diploma in
                                       Transport and Logistics Studies offered by any post-secondary institutions, or
                                       equivalent.
      Duties :                    (a) To organise the information on departmental transport resources to facilitate the
                                      vetting of vehicles requirements from government departments;
                                  (b) To file the vetting results for General Purpose Vehicles and Special Vehicles for the
                                       respective departments; and
                                  (c) To assist in preparing the vehicle particulars for vehicle procurement.
      Office venue :              North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong.
      Salary :                    $7,700 per month

Additional Information for our Internship Programme

Terms & Conditions of              Summer interns are engaged under non-civil service appointment. They are normally
Appointment :                      required to work 44 hours per week, inclusive of meal breaks. Unless otherwise
                                   provided, rest days, statutory holidays, general holidays, paid leave, sickness days and
                                   sickness allowance, where appropriate, are generally in line with the provisions of the
                                   Employment Ordinance (Cap.57). Summer Interns are subject to the Mandatory
                                   Provident Fund Scheme Ordinance (Cap. 485).

General Notes :                    (a) Non-civil service vacancies are not posts on the civil service establishment.

                 concerned should be clearly marked in the application form.

How to apply     (b) Candidates who wish to be considered for more than one post of the internship
                 programme should submit separate application for each of the posts.

                 (c) Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

                 (d) Candidates selected for interview will normally be invited to attend an interview in
                 about two to three weeks from the closing date. If they do not receive an invitation by
                 then, they may assume that their applications are not successful.
