exciting time for Gofal and I hope that the information we share with you here will inspire
you to join an ambitious, value driven and motivated organisation aiming to make a real
and lasting difference to people’s lives.

With twenty years of high quality service delivery behind us, Gofal is already recognised as
a leading Welsh mental health and well being charity. A recent review of our vision and

 Flexibility with good terms and conditions and a range of benefits

We really do want to challenge the way we all think about, talk about and respond to
mental health and well being in all of our lives.

If you can bring us proven experience of fundraising through quality written tenders and
grant applications coupled with an appetite for charitable fundraising activities then this is
the role for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

                                       About Gofal

Thinking differently about mental health and wellbeing
Gofal has been providing mental health and wellbeing services to people in Wales since
1990. We have come a long way since our first services opened in Bridgend, supporting
the resettlement of people from the long stay psychiatric wards of Parc and Penyfai
hospitals into homes in the community. We now operate across eleven local authorities in
Wales and have a turnover in excess of £4million. We support over 2,000 people every
year, employing around 130 people.

Our Vision

We believe that all people should have the opportunity to enjoy a sense of overall
wellbeing and that no one should be disadvantaged because of their mental health.

Our Mission

We want to challenge the way we all think about, talk about and respond to mental health
and wellbeing.

Our Core Beliefs

We believe that:

 All people should be treated with integrity

 Difference should be valued and respected

 Mental health is a fundamental part in us achieving an overall sense of wellbeing.

What we do

 We provide a range of services that support independence, health and wellbeing
       and promote recovery

 We lobby to improve mental health policy, practice and legislation

 We campaign to increase public understanding and awareness of mental health
       and wellbeing

 We continually evaluate and innovate in support of continued growth and
       development

                         Role of the Fundraising Manager

The Fundraising Manager is based in our central office within our Business Development
team and reports directly to Gofal’s Head of Business Growth.

Business growth is a central part of our overall organisational strategy and we have set
ourselves some ambitious targets.

In pursuit of our vision and mission we want to...

Increase the range and reach of our services through targeted sustainable business
growth increasing our direct beneficiaries from two thousand a year to five thousand by
2015.

Working closely with the Head of Business Growth our Fundraising Manager will be
fundamental to us achieving this target.

Our current success
We have had a dedicated fundraising resource within Gofal for 3 years and this has
successfully delivered on trust fund and other applications and also in building up a
calendar of fundraising events – details of which can be found on the ‘Get involved’ section
of our website at

http://www.gofal.org.uk/get-involved

What we want to build on
We want to build further on this success and ensure that more people are able to benefit
from the services we provide.

In January 2012 we will be launching the ‘Time to Change Wales’ anti stigma campaign in
partnership with mental health charities Hafal and Mind Cymru. This is a very exciting time
to be joining us and, through fundraising, to be helping challenge the way we all think
about, talk about and respond to mental health and wellbeing.

The role
The Fundraising Manager is the only dedicated fundraising role within Gofal and in order
to succeed will need to work closely with our operational staff as well as central office
functions including marketing, public affairs, finance and human resources.

We are looking for someone who can write and coordinate successful bids, tenders and
trust fund applications as well as oversee a growing calendar of events whilst also
identifying other opportunities for fundraising.
