Working across the charity the role of Fundraising Manager will bring a proven ability to
write high quality grant application and tender submissions, along with bringing innovative

                              Information About the post

Location:             Bridgend office base with option for some home working. There will
                      be a requirement for travel throughout Wales.

Salary:               £28,000 per annum.

Hours:                37 hours per week.
                      Flexibility will be required for evening and weekend working

Holidays:             26 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
                      Holidays increase by 1 day for each year of service up to a maximum
                      of 30 days.

Gofal has been providing mental health and wellbeing services to people in Wales since
1990. We have come a long way since our first services opened in Bridgend, supporting
the resettlement of people from the long stay psychiatric wards of Parc and Penyfai
hospitals into homes in the community. We now operate across eleven local authorities in
Wales and have a turnover in excess of £4million. We support over 2,000 people every
year, employing around 130 people.

                         Role of the Fundraising Manager

The Fundraising Manager is based in our central office within our Business Development
team and reports directly to Gofal’s Head of Business Growth.

Business growth is a central part of our overall organisational strategy and we have set
ourselves some ambitious targets.

In pursuit of our vision and mission we want to...

Increase the range and reach of our services through targeted sustainable business
growth increasing our direct beneficiaries from two thousand a year to five thousand by

Our current success
We have had a dedicated fundraising resource within Gofal for 3 years and this has
successfully delivered on trust fund and other applications and also in building up a
calendar of fundraising events – details of which can be found on the ‘Get involved’ section
of our website at

What we want to build on
We want to build further on this success and ensure that more people are able to benefit
from the services we provide.

In January 2012 we will be launching the ‘Time to Change Wales’ anti stigma campaign in
partnership with mental health charities Hafal and Mind Cymru. This is a very exciting time
to be joining us and, through fundraising, to be helping challenge the way we all think
about, talk about and respond to mental health and wellbeing.

The role
The Fundraising Manager is the only dedicated fundraising role within Gofal and in order
to succeed will need to work closely with our operational staff as well as central office
functions including marketing, public affairs, finance and human resources.

We are looking for someone who can write and coordinate successful bids, tenders and
trust fund applications as well as oversee a growing calendar of events whilst also
identifying other opportunities for fundraising.

Job Purpose           To provide a high quality bid and tender writing function in line with the
                      business growth strategy of the organisation.

                      To manage and oversee the growth of the organisations fundraising
                      opportunities and events calendar.

                      To provide a coordinating and quality control function for fundraising
                      activity and ongoing monitoring and reporting requirements.

                      To support the development and delivery of Gofal’s business growth
                      and income generating strategy, taking responsibility for meeting
                      annually agreed success measures for fundraising targets.

To work as part of the Gofal Wider Management Team contributing to the development of
organisational strategy and furtherance of Strategic Aims.

This job description outlines the main areas of the role, however no document can

duties commensurate with the scope of the role and across all areas of Gofal’s operations.

Role Expectations

Bid and Tender writing
1.    To coordinate, prepare and submit high quality, professional funding applications
      and tender submissions.
2.    To research and identify potential fundraising sources that support priorities within
      the growth strategy

1.   To grow and maintain a calendar of fundraising opportunities and events across
     the organisation
