                                Application for membership


Requirements:
*Must be a senior (2009 – 2010 school year)
*3.5 GPA (unweighted) in Social Studies courses (including psychology!)
*3.0 GPA (unweighted) overall
*Teacher recommendation
*No administrative referrals

Procedure:

1. Check your grades! Without the required GPA you will not be eligible for
membership. GPA in Social Studies courses should be calculated by using the final
grades you received for sophomore and junior years only.

2. Fill out the application completely.

3. Obtain a guidance counselor’s signature verifying your grades and GPA.

4. Have a former social studies teacher at the main campus fill out a recommendation
form and return it to Ms. Sanders – Room 294 (Social studies teachers from the 9th grade
center may not be asked).

5. Turn in the completed application to Ms. Sanders’ room – 294.

6. Those meeting eligibility requirements will be notified of their acceptance.


Involvement:

Please realize that membership in Social Studies Honor Society is a time commitment.
Only members who pay dues and regularly attend meetings, events, and activities will
earn cords for graduation.




Completed applications are due Friday, May 8th, 2009.
