					                     REACTIVITY SERIES – KS3

The way in which metals react – how readily and with how much vigour –
determine where they come in the reactivity series. At the top they are
most reactive, and as they go down the list they become less and less
reactive.

Follow these links by clicking on the pictures of the foundry workers to
remind yourself of the types of reactions that metals can under go.

TASK
  1. Make brief notes on what reactions the metals in the reactivity series
get put into the order they are in (with oxygen, water and acid, and
how the oxides react). (10 marks)
  2. Make notes about what displacement reactions are, and give two
     examples. (8 marks)
  3. Outline the rules for deciding which metal will react with a substance,
depending where there are in the reactivity series. (7 marks)
  4. List the reactivity series for the basic metals we have been dealing
     with. (6 marks)
