Description
Essential/Primary Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

      Maintain cutting edge scientific knowledge of cancer biology and oncology
       therapeutics and assess future trends. Attend scientific conferences to scout
       for opportunities and stay current in field.

      Represent Onyx in a as a partner of choice to external parties

      Evaluate in-licensing/M&A opportunities in terms of pre-clinical, safety,
       toxicology, clinical, PK and CMC and IP perspective
             o Participate in and be prepared to lead Initial Screen and
Corporate Development Evaluation meetings that decide whether to
enter into full due diligence
             o Integrate input from cross-functional internal teams and
outside experts
            o Prepare technical evaluation reports/analyses for
opportunities
            o Help to resolve critical issues to be clarified in due
diligence and/or reflected in deal terms

      Assume a leadership role in building and maintaining database that includes
       all past evaluations

      Support due diligence activities for out-partnering (when applicable)
            o Prepare partnering materials including presentations
and electronic data room
            o Effectively communicate technical content to potential
parties and represent Onyx as partner of choice

      Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements

Work Experience:

      5-8 years’ experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry in
       research/discovery, clinical development, or similar functional expertise, with
       a focus on oncology.
Management of Staff:

      Ability to manage without authority (i.e. cross-functional evaluation teams)
Functional/Technical Knowledge & Skills

      Current and in depth knowledge of cancer biology

      Excellent understanding of the drug development process
           o Pre-clinical discovery and lead generation, validation,
IND-enabling studies
           o Clinical pathway and design choices

      Understanding of commercial, IP and regulatory evaluation process

      Team player who supports the overall licensing/M&A process and can build
       strong cross-functional working relationships

      Able to effectively and positively represent Onyx to external parties as part
       of the search and diligence process

      External mindset – open to new ideas and to finding solutions to critical
       issues
Education/Training:

      Advanced degree in life sciences - PhD or equivalent
Other Requirements:

      Problem solver able to anticipate issues and proactively address them

      Able to prioritize multiple tasks and work well under pressure

      Some travel required
