Showtime Hits 15 – Song Sheet
 1) Mama Mia (Abba)

I've been cheated by you since I don't know when
So I made up my mind, it must come to an end
Look at me now, will I ever learn?
I don't know how but I suddenly lose control
There's a fire within my soul
Just one look and I can hear a bell ring
One more look and I forget everything, o-o-o-oh

Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I've missed you
   Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, now I really know,
My my, I could never let you go.

I've been angry and sad about the things that you do
I can't count all the times that I've told you we're through
And when you go, when you slam the door
I think you know that you won't be away too long
You know that I'm not that strong.
Just one look and I can hear a bell ring
One more look and I forget everything, o-o-o-oh

Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I've missed you
   Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go
Mamma mia, now I really know
My my, I could never let you go
2) A Wonderful Day Like Today (The Roar Of The Greasepaint)

On a wonderful day like today I defy any cloud to appear in the sky
Dare any rain drop to plop in my eye on a wonderful day like today.
On a wonderful morning like this when the sun is as big as a yellow
     balloon
Even the sparrows are singing in tune on a wonderful morning like this.

On a morning like this I could kiss everybody I’m so full of love and
     goodwill
Let me say furthermore I’d adore everybody to come and dine,
The pleasure’s mine – and I will pay the bill!

May I take this occasion to say that the whole human race
Should get down on its knees
Show that we’re grateful for mornings like these
for the worlds in a wonderful way.
On a wonderful day like today.

DANCE 1 chorus – (could pick up singing from “On a morning like
     this…”)

On a wonderful day (on a wonderful day)
On a wonderful day (on a wonderful day)
     On a wonderful day –
     Like today….

3) Journey To The Past (Anastasia)

     Heart don't fail me now
     Courage don't desert me
Don't turn back now that we're here
     People always say
     Life is full of choices
     No one ever mentions fear
or how a road can seem so seems long
or how the world can seems so vast
on a journey to the past
     Somewhere down this road
     I know someone's waiting
Years of dreams just can't be wrong
     Arms will open wide
     I'll be safe and wanted
     Finally home where I belong
Well, starting here I’m learning fast
On this journey to the past

     Home, love, family
     There was once a time
     I must've had them too
     Home, love, family
I will never be complete until I find you

     One step at a time
     One hope then another
Who knows where this road may go?
     Back to who I was
     On to find my future
Things my heart still needs to know
Yes, let this be a sign
     Let this road be mine
Let it lead me to my past
     And bring me home
     At Last

4) Good Morning (Singing In The Rain)

     Kathy: Good mornin',
     Cosmo: Good mornin'!
Don: We've talked the whole night through,
     Kathy: Good mornin'
Kathy, Don & Cosmo: Good mornin' to you.
     Good mornin', good mornin'!
It's great to stay up late,
Good mornin', good mornin' to you.

     Cosmo:
When the band began to play
The sun was shinin' bright.
Don:
Now the milkman's on his way,
It's too late to say goodnight.
Kathy, Don & Cosmo:
So, good mornin', good mornin'!
Sunbeams will soon smile through,
Good mornin', good mornin', to you,
Kathy: And you, and you, and you!

Good morning, Good morning,
We've gabbed the whole night through.
Good morning, good morning to you.
Don & Cosmo:
Nothin' could be grander than to be in Louisiana
Kathy, Don & Cosmo:
In the morning, In the morning,
It's great to stay up late!
Good mornin', Good mornin' to you.
Don & Cosmo:
It might be just a zippy
If you was in Mississipi!

Kathy:
When we left the movie show
The future wasn't bright
But tame is gone
The show goes on
And I don't wanna say good night
Don & Cosmo: So say, Good Mornin'!
Kathy: Good Mornin'!
Kathy, Don & Cosmo: Rainbow is shining through
Kathy: Good Mornin'!
Don & Cosmo: Good Mornin'!
Kathy: To You!

(DANCE) – Soft shoe and Samba
     Kathy: Good Mornin'!
     Don: Bon Jour
     Cosmo: Guten Morgen!
     Kathy: Buenos Dias!
ALL: Good Morning! Good Morning! To You!

5) Oom Pah Pah (Oliver)

     NANCY
(spoken) All right, shut up, you lot! A bit of culture now! 'Ere we go...
     (sung)
     There's a little ditty
     They're singing in the city
     Espeshly when they've been
On the gin Or the beer
     If you've got the patience,
     Your own imaginations
Will tell you just exactly what you want to hear...

     ALL
     Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
     That's how it goes,
     Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
     Ev'ryone knows.

     NANCY
They all suppose what they want to suppose
     When they hear...oom-pah-pah!!

     Mister Percy Snodgrass
Would often have the odd glass --
But never when he thought anybody could see.
     Secretly he'd buy it,
And drink it on the quiet,
And dream he was an Earl
Wiv a girl on each knee!

     CUSTOMERS AND NANCY
     Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
That's how it goes.
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
Ev'ryone knows...

NANCY
What is the cause of his red shiny nose?
Could it be...oom-pah-pah!?

Pretty little Sally
Goes walking down the alley,
Displays her pretty ankles to all of the men.
They could see her garters,
But not for free-and-gratis--
An inch or two, and then she knows
When to say when!

ALL
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
That's how it goes.
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
Ev'ryone knows...

NANCY
Whether it's hidden, or whether it shows --
It's the same...oom-pah-pah!

She was from the country,
But now she's up a gum-tree --
She let a feller feed 'er, then lead 'er along
What's the good o' cryin'?
She's made a bed to lie in
She's glad to bring the coin in,
And join in this song!

ALL
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
That's how it goes!
Oom-pah-pah! Oom-pah-pah!
Ev'ryone knows.
     NANCY
She is no longer the same blushing rose
     Ever since ... oom-pah-pah!

     (spoken) Altogether now!

(repeat chorus 3 times – getting quicker each time)

6) I Love A Piano (Easter Parade)

     I love a piano
I love a piano. I love to hear somebody play
Upon a piano A grand piano.
     It simply carries me away.
I know a fine way to treat a Steinway.
I love to run my fingers o'er the keys,
The ivories. And with the pedal
     I love to meddle
     When Padarewski comes this way.
I'm so delighted if I'm invited to hear a long haired genius play.
So you can keep your fiddle and bow.
Give me a P-I-A-N-O, oh, oh!
I love to stop right Beside an upright
Or a high toned baby grand...

 7) Bring Me Sunshine (Morcambe & Wise Show)

Bring me sunshine in your smile
Bring me laughter all the while
In this world where we live there should be more happiness
So much joy you can give to each brand new bright tomorrow
Make me happy through the years
     Never bring me any tears
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above
Bring me fun bring me sunshine and bring me love
Bring me sunshine in your eyes
Bring me rainbows from the skies
Life's too short to be spent having anything but fun
We can be so content if we gather little sunbeams
Be light hearted all day long
     keep me singing happy songs
Let your arms be as warm as the sun from up above
Bring me fun bring me sunshine and bring me love
Bring me sunshine in your smile...
Bring me fun bring me sunshine and bring me love

8) MATCHSTALK MEN AND MATCHSTALK CATS AND DOGS

      He painted Salford's smokey tops
On cardboard boxes from the shops
And parts of Ancoats where I used to play
I'm sure he once walked down our street
Cause he painted kids who had nowt on their feet
The clothes we wore had all seen better days.

Now they said his works of art were dull
No room, all round the walls are full
But Lowry didn't care much anyway
They said he just paints cats and dogs
And matchstalk men in boots and clogs
And Lowry said that's just the way they'll stay

And he painted matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
He painted kids on the corner of the street with the sparking clogs
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them factory gates
To paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs

Now canvas and brushes were wearing thin
      When London started calling him
To come on down and wear the old flat cap
They said tell us all about your ways
And all about them Salford days
Is it true you're just an ordinary chap

And he painted matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
He painted kids on the corner of the street with the sparking clogs
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them factory gates
To paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs

Now Lowries hang upon the wall
Beside the greatest of them all
And even the Mona Lisa takes a bow
This tired old man with hair like snow
Told northern folk its time to go
The fever came and the good Lord mopped his brow

And he left us matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
He left us kids on the corner of the street with sparking clogs
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them pearly gates
To paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs

And he left us matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
He left us kids on the corner of the street with sparking clogs
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them pearly gates
To paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs

And he left us matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
He left us kids on the corner of the street with sparking clogs
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them pearly gates
To paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs

And he left us matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
He left us kids on the corner of the street with sparking clogs
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them pearly gates
To paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs

9) Nothing (A Chorus Line)

  [DIANA]
  (spoken - unaccompanied)
I'm so excited because I'm gonna go
to the High School of Performing Arts!
I mean, I was dying to be a serious actress.
Anyway, it's the first day acting class-
and we're in the auditorium and the teacher,
Mr. Karp... Oh, Mr. Karp...
Anyway, he puts us up on the stage with
our legs around each other,
one in back of the other and he says:
"Okay... we're going to do improvisations.
Now, you're on a bobsled. It's snowing out.
And it's cold...Okay...GO!"

(4 bars intro)

(Sings)
Ev'ry day for a week we would try to
Feel the motion, feel the motion
Down the hill.
Ev'ry day for a week we would try to
Hear the wind rush, hear the wind rush,
Feel the chill.
And I dug right down to the bottom of my soul
To see what I had inside.
Yes, I dug right down to the bottom of my soul
And I tried, I tried.

[Spoken]
And everybody's goin' "Whooooosh, whooooosh ...
I feel the snow... I feel the cold... I feel the air."
And Mr. Karp turns to me and he says,
"Okay, Morales. What did you feel?"

[sings]
And I said..."Nothing, I'm feeling nothing,"
And he says "Nothing Could get a girl transferred."
They all felt something, But I felt nothing
Except the feeling That this bullshit was absurd!

[Spoken]
But I said to myself, "Hey, it's only the first week.
Maybe it's genetic. They don't have bobsleds in San Juan!"

[sings]
Second week, more advanced, and we had to
Be a table, be a sportscar... Ice-cream cone.
Mister Karp, he would say,"Very good,
except Morales. Try, Morales,
All alone."
And I dug right down to the bottom of my soul
To see how an ice cream felt.
Yes, I dug right down to the bottom of my soul
And I tried to melt.

The kids yelled, "Nothing!" They called me "Nothing"
And Karp allowed it, Which really makes me burn.

The were so helpful. They called me "Hopeless",
Until I really didn't know Where else to turn.

[Spoken]
And Karp kept saying,
"Morales, I think you should transfer to Girl's High,
You'll never be an actress, Never!" Jesus Christ!

Went to church, praying, "Santa Maria,
Send me guidance, send me guidance,"
On my knees.

Went to church, praying, "Santa Maria,
Help me feel it, help me feel it.
Pretty please!"

And a voice from down at the bottom of my soul
Came up to the top of my head.
And the voice from down at the bottom of my soul,
Here is what it said:

"This man is nothing! This course is nothing!
If you want something, Go find another class.
And when you find one You'll be an actress."
And I assure you that's what Fin'lly came to pass.

Six months later I heard that Karp had died.
And I dug right down to the bottom of my soul...
      And cried.
      'Cause I felt... nothing.

10) Friendship (Anything Goes)

       (Spoken)
Moonface: You know, Reno, we should have teamed up years ago.
Reno: We're two of a kind, all right.
       Moon: Partners!
       Reno:Through thick and thin!
       Moon: Night and day!
       Reno: Right or wrong!

       (Sung)
Moon: If you're ever in a jam, here I am.
Reno: If you ever need a pal, I'm your gal.
Moon: If you ever feel so happy you land in jail,
       I'm your bail.
       Both:
       It's friendship, friendship,
       Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships have been forgot
       Ours will still be hot!
       Lahdle-ahdle-ahdle-dig-dig-dig.

Moon: If you're ever down a well, ring my bell.
Reno: If you ever catch on fire, send a wire.
Moon: If you ever lose your teeth
When you're out to dine, Borrow mine.
       Both:
       It's friendship, friendship,
       Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships have ceased to jell
Ours will still be swell!
Lahdle-ahdle-ahdle-hep-hep-hep.

Reno: If they ever black your eyes, put me wise.
Moon: If they ever cook your goose, turn me loose.
Reno: If they ever put a bullet through your brr-ain
I'll complain.
Both:
It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships go up in smoke,
Ours will still be oke!
Lahdle-ahdle-ahdle-goof-goof-goof.

Moon: If you ever lose your mind, I'll be kind.
Reno: If you ever lose your shirt, I'll be hurt.
Moon: If you're ever in a mill and get sawed in half,
I won't laugh.
Both:
It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships have been 'forgate'
Ours will still be great!

Reno: If they ever crack your spine, drop a line.
Moon: If they ever cut your throat, write a note.
Reno: If they ever make a cannibal stew of you,
Invite me too!
Both:
It's friendship, friendship,
Just a perfect blendship,
When other friendships are up the crick,
Ours will still be slick!
Lahdle-ahdle-ahdle-
Moon: Quack-quack-quack
Reno: Woof-woof-woof
Both:
When other friendships have been forgot,
Ours will still be hot!
     Moon: Quack-quack-quack
     Reno: Woof-woof-woof

11) Mama, I’m A Big Girl Now (Hairspray)

    PRUDY: Don't contradict me!
    VELMA: Don't disobey me!
EDNA: Don't even think about going to that audition.
    TRACY, PENNY & AMBER: Please!

AMBER: Don't treat me like a child of two
    MOMS: No!
TRACY: I know that you want what's best

    MOMS:Please!

    TRACY: But mother, please,
    GIRLS: Give it a rest!!!
    ALL: Stop! Don't! No! Please!
    Stop! Don't! No! Please!
    Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Mama. I'm a big girl now!

    TRACY:
Once upon a time when i was just a kid
You never let me do just what the older kids did
But lose that laundry list of what you won't allow

GIRLS: 'Cause mama, I'm a big girl now

    AMBER:
Once upon a time I used to play with childhood toys
But now I'd rather play around with teenage boys
So, if I get a hickey, please don't have a cow
GIRLS: 'Cause mama, I'm a big girl now

PENNY:
Ma, I gotta tell you that without a doubt
I get my best dancing lessons from you
You're the one who taught me how to "twist and shout"
Because you shout non-stop
And you're so twisted too!
Wo -oh -oh -oh -oh

TRACY: Once I used to fidget 'Cause I just sat home
AMBER: But now I'm just like Gidget And I gotta get to Rome!
PENNY: So say, arrivederci!
TRACY: Toodle-loo!
AMBER: And ciao!
GIRLS: 'Cause mama, I'm a big girl now

ALL:
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!

GIRLS: Mama, I'm a big girl now (hey mama, say mama)

TRACY:
Once upon a time I was a shy young thing
Could barely walk and talk so much as dance and sing
But let me hit that stage, I wanna take my bow

GIRLS: 'Cause mama, I'm a big girl now

AMBER:
Wo - oh - oh - oh - oh
Once upon a time I used to dress up 'ken'
But now that I'm a woman, I like bigger men
And i don't need a Barbie doll to show me how

GIRLS: 'Cause mama, I'm a big girl now
      GIRLS:
      Ma, you always taught me
      What was right from wrong
And now I just wanna give it a try
Mama, I've been in the nest for far too long
So please give a push and mama watch me fly

      AMBER: Watch me fly
      GIRLS: Hey, mama, say mama
PENNY: Someday I will meet a man You won't condemn
AMBER: And we will have some kids And you can torture them
TRACY: But let me be a star Before I take that vow
GIRLS: 'Cause mama, I'm a big girl now
PENNY: Oh - Oh - Oh
GIRLS: Mama, I'm a big girl now
AMBER: Hey - Hey - Hey
GIRLS: Mama, I'm a big girl
AMBER: Ooh, such a big, big girl!

GIRLS: I'm a big girl now

      ALL:
      Stop! Don't! No! Please!
      Stop! Don't! No! Please!
      Stop! Don't! N0! please!

GIRLS: Mama, I'm a big girl now!!!

12) Smile Medley (When You’re Smiling/Smile/Can’t Smile Without You)

When you're smiling When you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you
When you're laughing When you're laughing
      The sun comes shining through
But when you're crying You bring on the rain
So stop your sighing Be happy again
Keep on smiling ‘Cause when you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you
But when you're crying You bring on the rain
So stop your sighing Be happy again (shout)
Keep on smiling ‘Cause when you're smiling
The whole world smiles with you
------------------------------------
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though its breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
Thats the time you must keep on trying
Smile, whats the use of crying?
Youll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
--------------------------------------------
You know I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
You see I feel sad when you're sad
I feel glad when you're glad
If you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile without you

You came along just like a song
And brightened my day
Who would have believed that you were part of a dream
Now it all seems light years away

And now you know I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
You see I feel sad when you're sad
I feel glad when you're glad
If you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile

Now some people say happiness takes so very long to find
Well, I'm finding it hard leaving your love behind me

And you see I can't smile without you
I can't smile without you
I can't laugh and I can't sing
I'm finding it hard to do anything
You see I feel glad when you're glad
I feel sad when you're sad
If you only knew what I'm going through
I just can't smile without you
