Skills Competition 2007
Competition: DIESEL TECHNOLOGY
Purpose: To evaluate each contestants preparation for employment and recognize
outstanding students for being professional in the field.
Blue work pants, blue work shirts, work boots
Eligibility: Open to active SkillsUSA members enrolled in vocational programs with
entry-level skills at the occupational objective. A letter from appropriate
school official stating that the contestant is classified under the provisions
of Public Law 94/142 entitled “Education for Handicapped Children Act
of 1975” is required for participation.
Safety glasses with side glasses. Also, contestants should have knowledge
of hand and shop tools.

Remove, inspect and replace brake components (S-CAM)
Adjust valves and injectors on a Cummins 855 engine
Measure and trouble shoot a differential assembly
Written test on basic electric
Contestants will be judged in tune-up of an engine, removal,
inspecting and replacement of brake components, and carrier
troubleshooting. In addition, they will be judged on a general
shop skills, problem solving skills, and shop safety, a written
test and speed. The technical committee, based on the difficulty
of the assigned tests, will assign points allowed.
