•    Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol tops the weekend chart on its second week of release. Excluding previews, weekly
     takings have dipped 18%, garnering £2.22million this weekend across 517 sites.
• In close second is Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows which achieved £2.16million this weekend across 518 sites – just 3%
     behind M:I4.
• Meryl Streep’s turn as The Iron Lady debuts in 3rd place with a box office of £2.15mllion, boosted by a strong performance in
     Ireland. The second new release of the weekend, Goon, starring American Pie actor Sean William Scott, entered in 7th place
     with a reasonable opener of £728k.
• Rounding out the Top 5 are David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – up 5% on last week to achieve £1.6million this
     weekend- and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
• The Artist is this weekend’s biggest climber, expanding from 1 to 106 sites nationwide, inflating its week-on-week gross by
     1199% to place in 8th position. The film also has the highest site average at £5,939 and has grossed a total of £721,049
     after two weeks on release.
Family Films Roundup:
• Arthur Christmas bows out of the Top 10 to place 14th, dropping 80% week on week as Sony winds down the theatrical release.
     The film’s cumulative total now stands at over £20,764,510.
• Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel continues to defy critics placing just above Puss In Boots with a weekend gross of
     £922k, dropping 36% week on week. Puss In Boots posted similar results gaining £917k (just 0.5% less Alvin)dropping
     33% to 6th place after 5 weeks on release.
• Hugo drops to 10th place grossing £161k, down 34% on last weekend and Happy Feet 2 similarly drops to 11th position grossing
     £138k, down 37% on last week.

•   Summer starts early in 2012 as The Avengers Assemble on 27th April, 3 months before The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-
    Man hit the big screen. With a hefty price tag estimated to be in the region of $780million, which includes the recent Iron Man, Thor
    and Captain America ‘prequels’, Marvel Studios is banking on creating one of the biggest and most commercially successful films of all
    time.

•   Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon is helming the project which stars Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and
    Scarlett Johansson reprising their respective Superhero roles with newcomers Mark Ruffalo (as The Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (as
    Hawkeye) completing the full line-up, which was revealed to pandemonium at the 2010 San Diego Comic Con.

•   Expectations are high for The Avengers with licensed toys from the movie on its way into the market from Disney, Lego, and Jakks as
    well as collectable items and other merchandise from manufacturers such as Funko who have produced a line of POP! Marvel bobble-
    head figures. Profile is skewing male (71%) with a core 15-24yr old audience.
