Step into my time machine and I can take you to 1982 where you can buy
them day and night for $450−$500. You can supplement your sound with
$300 USA−made (only kind back then) Strats and Teles, and if you'll
take a Jazzmaster or Jaguar they got from $125−$250 depending on
condition. Unfortunately the time/space continuum will be ripped apart
if you try to bring one back to the present with you. To keep it you
have to stay back there forever, playing in cover bands doing Night
               Ranger, Billy Idol, Tommy Tutone...8−6−7−5−3−oh−ni−a−ine.....

I go back to the early 70's so you can imagine the prices

In late 72 or early 73 I bought a LP Custom, Black w/gold hardware for
just over $400.00. I sold it four or five years later for $700.00. I just
bought a new LP Standard for $1800.00. If I only knew then...
