Argentina- 1984. Spent approximately 2 weeks traveling to private ranches in central and northern
provinces with Dr. Alijandro Derijibus, Departemento de Agronomia, Universidad de Buenos Aires. I
assisted him in developing research programs for these enterprises.
Bolivia- 1989, 1990. Two trips were made during the summer of these years to develop a cooperative
research and education program among the University of Florida, Universidad Tecnica del Beni,
Conservation International, the Federacion de Ganaderos del Beni, Estacion Biologia Beni, and the Instituto
Boliviano de Tecnologia Agropecuaria. A proposal titled "Manejo de las praderas tropicales del Beni" was
developed following consultation with the various parties. However, funding of the program never
materialized although all parties were in strong support.
