Instruction on filling out the Nordstrom General Conformity Certificate
General Conformity Certificate must be filled out electronically in English
Any manufacturer, vendor or supplier which is acting as the importer of record in a
transaction with Nordstrom is responsible for the creation of its own General Conformity
Certificate. Such certificate must be furnished to Nordstrom and made available to the
Consumer Product Safety Commission, all in accordance with the Consumer Product Safety
Improvement Act of 2008.
1. Complete Style/Vendor Product Number (VPN) as per the Nordstrom purchase order (e.g.
CN12345MI)
2. Date the certificate is being filled out. Format should be Month/Day/Year (e.g. 12/2/2008).
3. Check the appropriate Rule / Ban / Standard / Regulation(s) that applies to that Style/VPN. Fill
in the City and Country where testing occurred. Fill in the Month/Day/Year the test report was
issued
o The test report will indicate which Rule / Ban / Standard / Regulation (s) apply to this
Style/VPN.
o If fabric is exempt from flammability testing under FFA then indicate 'exempt' in the
location of test and leave the date of test blank.
4. Identification of third-party laboratory on whose testing the certificate depends, including name,
full mailing address and telephone number of the lab.
5. Name of the manufacturer to whom Nordstrom issues the purchase order. This field is
required for Nordstrom tracking process.
6. Date the product was manufactured. Format should be Month/Year (e.g. 12/2008).
7. Location of production is the City, State and Country or Administrative Region of the actual
factory location where the product was finally manufactured or assembled.
This listing below is illustrative of the many rules and regulations that apply to consumer products imported by Nordstrom.
It is important to note that if a product is exempt from testing under a rule/ban/standard /regulation(s) a general conformity
certificate is still required. For example specific fibers that are exempt under the Flammable Fibers Act (FFA) must still
have general conformity certificate.
