  Policy
  Sept

The
  club
  has
  deep
  concern
  with
  previous
  incidents
  with
  the
  van

  in
  vehicle
  accidents
  .

  We

are
  also
  concerned
  with
  the
  amount
  of
  repair
  and
  maintenance
  required
  on
  the
  brakes
  of

the
  van,
  which
  appear
  to
  be
  excessive
  for
  the
  use,
  size
  and
  type
  of
  the
  vehicle.

  Although
  we

recognize
  the
  van
  often
  travels
  on
  mountain
  roads
  it
  is
  our
  belief
  these
  repairs
  are
  also
  an

indication
  the
  van
  is
  being
  driven
  in
  a
  manner
  and
  speed
  that
  requires
  excessive

  This

  been

  bringing

  drive
  at
  a

legal
  speed
  limit
  and
  lower
  if
  roads
  are
  slippery.
  We
  are
  not
  concerned
  with
  the
  time
  it

takes
  to
  get
  to
  a
  destination
  but
  rather

This code of conduct has been hanging over my head for a few months (there was an action plan a few
meetings ago for me to look at it). I have added some things in that I feel are important in blue and have
struck out things that I feel we can ditch.
There are some more items that I think we can ditch but we can discuss at the meeting Thursday night.
Please don’t respond with your comments to me now. If you have changes/comments bring a copy of
this document to the meeting and we will discuss as quickly as possible, reach consensus and adopt.
Thanks,
Prue

                                      Athlete and Parent
                                      Code of Conduct
As a member of BC Alpine, all RSC members agree to abide by the codes of conduct of both BC
Alpine and the RSC. Infractions of the codes of conduct will be subject to disciplinary action.
All RSC athletes and parents are ambassadors for the RSC whether they are at Revelstoke
Mountain Resort or representing our club at any other ski hill. Athletes are also ambassadors for
the RSC when they are representing zone or Provincial teams at Provincial or National levels.

ALL Revelstoke Ski Club MEMBERS AGREE TO:
Represent themselves, the sport of alpine skiing, and RSC with the highest level of integrity. This
reflects the professional attitude that our Program and all enrolled athletes will work to achieve.

Represent themselves in a respectful manner at all times while involved in any (team) RSC
activities: training, racing, traveling, volunteering, social activities and meetings.
Maintain a high level of personal responsibility.

Be courteous to and respect the decisions of the coaching staff, race officials, volunteers and all
ski area employees and personnel.

Understand that participation with RSC is a privilege and can be revoked. Each (athlete) member
will know and respect all rules. They will understand that violations of rules and policies will result
in disciplinary action imposed by the (RSC Program Director) RSC Disciplinary committee.
Disciplinary action can include suspension from the team without any refund of tuition and/or
suspension from all club activities
Follow and uphold the rules and code of conduct set forth by RSC & the ski area.

or in very severe cases by the BC Alpine Discipline Review committee
    • A supervising coach has the discretion to decide when an athlete may or may not train or
race until the RSC Discipline Committee reviews the infraction of Code of Conduct
    • The RSC Discipline Committee will be made up of 3 parent representatives appointed by
the RSC executive and one member of the executive
    • The body of 3 representatives has voting status whereas the executive member is non-
voting and serves as a liason between the RSC Executive and the RSC Discipline
         committee
    • To avoid conflict of interest, when a child of a Discipline Committee member is involved,
that member will remove themselves from the process and request that a temporary stand-
         in be appointed
    • Likewise, the same process will occur if a member feels that they are in potential conflict
of interest due to a friendship/connection with the RSC member in question
    • A serious infraction will be reported to the coach, who then contacts a member of the
         Discipline Committee
    • A designate of the committee notifies the necessary parties (parents, committee members)
in a timely fashion and proceeds to investigate
    • A timely decision on consequences is made by the committee

                DISCIPLINE FOR RSC EXPECTATION VIOLATIONS
Any Rule infraction can result in disciplinary action as considered appropriate to the individual,
the intent, and the circumstances regardless of the following guidelines.
Minor infractions:
Failure to comply with any expectations listed above not listed as a Major Infraction, in most
cases would be considered a minor infraction to be dealt with at the lowest level possible. In
cases where the behaviour is not resolved and is repeated, it may constitute a major infraction.
???(Punishment for a Minor Infraction:
1st Season Offence: Coach to Discuss with Racer
2nd Season Offence: Director and Coach to Discuss with Racer and Parent
3rd Season Offence: Considered a 1st Major Offence
4th Season Offence: Considered a 2nd Major Offence)???

Major Rule Infractions:
After a decision about consequences is made, the Discipline Committee may issue a written
notice to the skier and parents. Depending on the frequency and/or severity of the behaviour, the
intent and the circumstances of the infraction, consequences may include but are not limited to:
    • Parent or legal guardian needing to accompany racer for team travel/camps for the
         remainder of the year
    • Loss of privilege to participate in training/racing for a defined period of time (for example 4
         weeks)
    • Loss of privilege to participate in training/racing for the remainder of a season
    • Indefinite loss of privilege to participate in training/racing, along with a loss of
membership of the club. This may include forfeiting club tuition
    • If the infraction occurs during team travel, the parent or guardian may be asked to pick up
         the racer
During RSC team activities each of the following conditions is considered a major club rule violation that
is subject to RSC discipline:
