get an expert opinion. A doctor will run tests to make sure you do not have any vitamin or mineral
deficiencies that may contribute to your poor skin. Then they will have recommendations about
actions that you can take to make your skin look better. Dermatologists in particular have a great deal
of experience dealing with acne, so they can be very specific when helping you to determine how you
should proceed.




2. Take the right kind of medication for your acne. This does not mean that you won't try anything
else, but if your doctor prescribes medication for your acne, give it a try. Some acne medications can
be drying, so make sure you drink a lot of water and stay hydrated. If your medication does not work,
or inflames your skin, be sure to mention that to your doctor right away.




3. Try some over the counter treatments for acne as well. Prescription medication can help, but you
might find some over the counter options work better for your particular skin. They are usually
cheaper as well. Try the topical creams and see if they work for you. If not, experiment with
something else. Sometimes a combination of different products work too.




4. Take care of your skin at home. That means washing your clothes and bedding often to make sure
that you eliminate as much bacteria as possible, and it also means cleaning your skin with the right
products. Try products that are gentle and natural, because some products can further irritate your
skin.
