Communications Intern

Communications Internship

The mission of Lilada’s Livingroom is to create safe environments for women and girls to heal from the
wounds of sexual abuse. Our vision is for every child to be safe at home, their places of worship and their
communities. We work toward that vision by providing healing services to female survivors of sexual
abuse. In addition, we offer supportive services to parents and others who are affected by sexual violence
and by providing professional training and consultation to support businesses, schools, faith communities
and community organizations to build capacity to prevent abuse and foster survivor’s healing journeys. A
special emphasis is placed on providing culturally affirming services to traditionally underserved
populations. This person will handle the public communication and advertising of the organization’s
message and events, as well as create an e-presence for Lilada’s Livingroom.

Virtual Science Policy Internship Program

As a nonprofit organization, SEA promotes evidence-based decision making at all levels of government.
We pursue this mission by encouraging members of the scientific community to become engaged in US
politics and the policy-making process. SEA invites undergraduate and graduate students to take part in
the Science Policy Internship Program. During this ten-week course, interns dedicate eight to ten hours
each week to studying specific areas of science policy, science communication and the various and often
unknown ways that members of the US science communities positively influence public policy. Interns
collaborate in groups to analyze weekly readings, write policy briefs, and develop substantial and
persuasive talking points. Intern research teams are led by Science Policy Fellows – postdoctoral scholars
and science communicators. Science Policy Fellows help interns to develop confidence within a given
research area, encouraging creative problem-solving through lively weekly conference calls, and offering
advice to young scientists, engineers and health professionals who are still working to solidify their future
goals.

Madison Children’s Museum
Rooftop Ramble Internship

The Madison Children's Museum is looking for two student interns to work in the Rooftop Ramble, the
new rooftop garden exhibit. MCM’s Education Department provides drop-in programs, guided field trips,
classes, workshops, and camps for the museum’s diverse audience groups, including children, parents,
grandparents, school groups, social service agencies, teachers, and child care providers. Non-paid
internships are available each semester during the 2010-11 academic year. Students may arrange for
