Life Skills Parenting Intake Worker
MIWRC is seeking a dedicated individual to work with families accessing the Family Stabilization Program.
Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
At least 2 years experience working with American Indian families in social service or other related field with a
specific focus in child welfare issues.
Knowledgeable in the Indian Child Welfare Act and the Minnesota Indian Preservation Act is required.
Knowledgeable in the current social service systems.
Knowledgeable in the American Indian culture, and the current resources available in the community.
Knowledgeable and have computer skills.
Must have no current problem related to alcohol or drug use.
Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record and provide proof of auto insurance.
Must have own vehicle and be willing to transport as needed.
Must be willing to submit to DHS Rule #3, Criminal Background Study.
Demonstrated ability to:
Maintain highly confidential and sensitive information.
Ability to exemplify professional conduct and ethical standards.
Provide effective communication: interpersonal and listening skills with clients and staff.
Work in a cooperative team relationship with MIWRC agency staff, and county staff to coordinate client services
Ability to be flexible to meet scheduled intakes with Child Protection Investigator.
Perform at a highly multi-tasking position and maintain professionalism under stressful situations.
Provide intake assessments, make referrals and provide crisis management services to families.
Maintain an active caseload of 8 families and minimum of 2 families; client services will be delivered in
Maintain client case documentation, administer pre and post tests and closing summaries.
Facilitate Family Services parent group when needed.
Provide client transportation when needed.
Present client cases for consultation with Program Director and Licensed Mental Health Professional.
Respond to other duties as assigned by the Family Stabilization Director and or the Executive Director.
