January 7, 2012
Dear Friends,
This is a joyous occasion to celebrate Waterville Valley Adaptive Sports and we thank YOU for being here and
showing your support. Tonight we will raise the needed funds to continue to bring the bright light into the lives
of people with disabilities and their families through their participation in sports. We are breaking down barriers
every day, seeing the joy and celebrations for our participants as they come in off the hill after flying down the
mountain. It is truly exciting for us all.
This celebration begins with you and your help in making this happen. Our supportive community is vast and
includes the hundreds of volunteers who help make each day a memorable one for our participants. They are
our heart and soul. We include the families, who live with challenges each day of their lives. The saying goes that
each of us only gets, in life, what we can handle, and these families handle their challenges with such passion
and honor. We are blessed to know them all. Of course we celebrate each day the accomplishments of our
participants, whether it is getting their boots on and walking around the base lodge, their finishing their first
Diana Golden or Special Olympics Race. We are proud to be a part of their lives, proud to watch them grow as
athletes.
With the changeover to our own program, we lost a lot of our equipment. We were careful to save a few of our
newer pieces, but need to replenish our supply so we can be sure to have it available for our students. Each year
there are new pieces coming on the market and we want to be be able to provide the best and most up to date
equipment for our students. Many of them ski with our program as the equipment is expensive to buy
personally and the changes and improvements are happening all the time, we hope you will help us to rebuild
our supply of equipment in the Fund-a-Need and put your name on a piece of equipment for the program.
We hope you will join us and celebrate the lives of our participants, their families, the soldiers and our
volunteers, many of whom are here tonight. We are all working hard to make this program special for them all.
Please bid high and bid often so we can continue to serve this wonderful and gracious community of people with
disabilities. They are all very special to us. Thank you for your part in making this night happen.
Warm regards.
Katharine R Chandler

procure some of this equipment.
