Volume 12 Issue 2 April 2012 Cleaning up dad’s roadster. It was an honour to represent Foothills in the club display with Barry Klassen. Thanks to everyone who helped make that happen and to everyone who dropped in at the booth for a visit. World of Wheels 2012 Calgary’s automotive kick off to 2012 is already two months behind us. Memories of the stress and trepidation that comes from so many sources; show prep, new management, new floor plans have been pushed aside by recollections of a great show and good times with friends. My favorite memory comes from a month prior to the show when on January 8th I called dad to let him know I’d just driven his roadster down from Carstairs. There are few days in June when the trip is as nice as it was that weekend. Dad was pleased, and we looked forward to cleaning up the car together, that didn’t happed, but I went forward knowing he wanted to be there. “Get back to work!” 2 Foothills Kruizin' Scott Meador’s 28 Sedan from Airdrie Rod Howrie’s ’44 Chev was a STAR, Just Cuz Keith Downie’s ’29 Bonneville Roadster making it first public appearance. The Bowser and Blue lyric “In a world full of balls…some folks have no balls at all” definitely doesn’t apply here. – (Musical reference for Bill) Still the best part of the show was the drive. 8 Foothills Kruizin' Agapé Al Hardstaff At the January 2012 meeting of the Foothills Street Rod Association, the Agape Hospice in Calgary was presented with a cheque for $5,000.00. Our Street Rod Club has been donating funds to the Agape Hospice for many years starting back in l999. To date a grand total of over $56,000 has been donated to this Salvation Army hospice facility. 4504 12th St. N.E. The hospice and car club have been working together on numerous projects over the years including donating refrigerators and holding car shows on site at the hospice. The Agape Hospice has provided comfort to numerous members of the car club, relatives and friends over the years and the bond that has been created between our car club and the hospice is indeed a rare one that we all value. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore. I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often. I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm. Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older. One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get! I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing.
