WHAT WE ARE DOING IN OUR CLASSROOMS
Play dough is an activity that combines fine motor development with social
and emotional growth. Play dough is easy to make and the children love to
use cookie cutters and plastic knives to mold and manipulate the play dough.
We encourage you to make this recipe at home with your child and enjoy
playing with him/her while asking open-ended questions to enhance
language development and cognitive thinking.
Stove Top Play dough
1 c. flour
½ c. salt
2 tbsp. cream of tartar
1 c. water
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
Mix four, salt and cream of tartar in medium pan. Add water, oil, and food
coloring. Cook over medium heat about 3 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly. It
will look like a “globby” mess, but it will turn out. Dump out of pan onto wax
paper. Knead until smooth. Store in airtight container.
