***** THIS INFORMATION IS INTENDED FOR SUPPLY PERSONNEL ****

The attached Excel Spreadsheet file is provided for your review and appropriate action in preparation of insuring that
your SASSY records are accurate as possible prior to their upcoming conversion into Global Combat Support System-
Marine Corps (GCSS-MC).

Please have appropriate Supply personnel (DASF/LUBF/MAL/CMR Clerks) review and correct the errors identified by
the SCAT spreadsheet identified for your unit to insure that ALL of your accountable SASSY records are successfully
converted into GCSS-MC.

***** Related Information on GCSS-MC *****

GCSS-MC specific definitions:

Item Master Organization (IMO): BLUF: This file is the GCSS-MC version of the MHIF. It is NIIN based and reflects the
"technical data" for USMC items. This includes whether an item is an Install Base (PC “C” item) and/or whether the item
MUST BE accounted for utilizing a Serial Number.

Serial Number Tracked: BLUF: This is a field within the IMO file (see above) that determines whether a NIIN MUST BE
accounted for by Serial Number.

Install Base (IB): BLUF: This file is the combined LUAF (MAL), Retail Inventory (RUAF), and Retail LocSerf (CMR Serial
Numbers) contained within GCSS.

This file is NIIN/AAC/SUC/SerNbr based and reflects what a unit has “On Hand” (By Serial Number if/when required).

Although these Install Base items are mostly Principal End Items (PEI), there are some non-serialized assets that will be
tracked in Install Base.

The Install Base will record the unit that “owns” the item, the item location, and the accountable and responsible officer.
All items that are not designated as Install Base trackable within the IMO file (see above definition) will not be converted
into the Install Base.

The following three SASSY files will provide the necessary data to populate your unit’s Install Base data:

1. Loaded Unit Allowance File (LUAF) will provide the Activity Address Code, Item Number (NIIN) and Total Quantity On
Hand for the NIIN.

2. Retail Inventory (RETINV) file will provide the Subordinate Unit Code (SUC) and Quantity held by the SUC.

3. Retail Location Serial (RTLS) file will provide stock locator, serial number, and lot number.
