Lines
In the world of photography and design, is known there are six key elements that make up the
composition of the six elements are: line (line), form (shape), shape (form), texture (texture), pattern
(pattern) and color (color). We will recognize applications of these elements in the world of
photography. Now we start with the first element: line. We will discuss other elements in the next
posting.
Of the six elements of photo composition mentioned above, the line is the most important element
(at least according to the experts). With no lines, no shape, no form will not be any form. And
without the lines and shapes, there is no pattern (pattern). Well how do you make use of the line so
that your photos look more beautiful? let's discuss together.
Everyday we always see a line element, is only possible because our eyes are accustomed to not
realize it. Horizon (the horizon), river basins, coastlines, rice fields, roads, railroads, appliances,
buildings, and other ceramic tiles. There are lines everywhere. Basically the line can be divided into 4
types: horizontal, vertical, diagonal and curved. Each type can represent a message and a certain
sense to the eye of the beholder in the form of photographs.
A. Horizontal lines
Horizontal lines give the impression of stability, calm, permanent and solid. The most obvious
example of a horizontal line is the horizon line that divides the sky and land (or sea), the horizon
(horizon) as the feet of the body: strong, sturdy, foundation. Avoid the use of a horizontal line right
in the middle of your picture because it could create the impression of stiff and dead. Better yet,
look for horizontal lines are layered like the photo below:
2. Vertical lines
Vertical lines can represent the impression of power and height (Mass-storey building) and growth
(eg trees). Avoid putting a rigid vertical line in the middle of the image so that dividing the image into
two parts.
3. Diagonal lines
Than the horizontal and vertical lines, diagonal lines are more dynamic. This line will cause breath to
the composition so that it felt more alive. When you exploit the exact diagonal lines in the picture
you will get a very interesting and suck the eye. Use a diagonal line by pulling it from one side to the
opposite side.
4. Line curve (arch)
Among other types of lines that are formal and rigid, curved lines have a flexible and highly dynamic
nature. If diagonal lines made composition feels more alive, than that of curved lines, he gives the
impression of sexy (hmmm ...?) In the composition of the photograph. Curved lines it felt soft,
relaxed and engaged. Curved lines are also very dominant in nature, you can find in various forms:
mountains, beaches curved, the tip of the leaf. Find the curved lines around you and you will be
more cool photos.
