www.techperk.com There is a common notion prevailing among people that it is not at all possible to beat Microsoft’s windows system. The actual fact is that the above said notion is more or less true till now but it may not be after the second half of 2010. When the whole world trembled due to the economic turmoil, each and every sector got affected and they had decrease in their growth but still a firm posted a huge growth in those recession times. It is also estimated that the last quarter revenue of that firm may cross 320 million dollars. That particular firm with huge and wide growth is nothing but our “GOOGLE”. To add a feather to its cap google has announced that launch of a new Google Chrome OS for personal computers and this OS will be targeted at netbooks initially. Sundar Pichai, Google's vice-president of product management stated that “Later this year we will opensource its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010”. He also added “Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web." Google OS will look like a simple browser and they have also taken care on the platform architecture and made it simple i.e. google chrome will run on the top of a Linux kernel. There is no doubt that google chrome has always been a leader in browsers and google strongly believes that google chrome OS will help application developers. Google chrome is optimized to the maximum extent possible for running web applications with a task manager. You don’t even need a video player as you will have you tube at your desktop and it is easy to read daily news with google reader. E-mail client will be gmail of course and office suite is google docs which does your work in a single click. There is no doubt that it is a boon for the users who spends 23.59 hours/day on the internet as eventually this will be a power full OS for web application users. A fact that has to be accepted is that this concept is not a new one but still if google can manage to create a great/simple user interface then there is no doubt that google will become a tough competitor for Microsoft.
