									  IRS Tax Education Workshop for Startup or New Business Owners
Maricopa SBDC, in partnership with IRS, presents a free 2-part tax series designed to provide
vital tax information to those contemplating starting a new business as well as those established
entrepreneurs, freelancers and independent contractors about their tax filing, paying and
operating requirements and responsibilities. Learn from tax professionals about information
pertinent to the small business owner.

The first part, IRS Tax Education Workshop for Startup or New Businesses covers basic start up
information such as This is a three-hour presentation offered by tax professionals who are
volunteering their time, and will be offered throughout Maricopa County:
     o Scottsdale - August 10 - 9:00 a.m. - Noon
     o Downtown Phoenix - August 11 - 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
     o Paradise Valley - Sept. 13 - 9:00 a.m. - Noon
     o Avondale - Oct. 6 - 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
     o Chandler - Oct. 28 - 9:00 a.m. - Noon
     o Mesa - Nov. 10 - 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. (Spanish Only)
     o Downtown Phoenix - Nov. 17 - 9:00 a.m. - Noon

The second part is for existing small businesses, and includes retirement plans, what you need to
know when hiring employees/independent contractors, and an overview of payroll taxes and other
necessary information for businesses with employees or who are thinking of hiring employees.
   o Downtown Phoenix - Aug. 18 - 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
   o Scottsdale - Sept. 8 - 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
   o Paradise Valley - Sept. 22 - 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.

         City of Peoria offers Small Business Workshop in October
FREE– Tax Information for Small Businesses, 2 part series. Part 1 covers: What you need to
know about federal taxes in reference to your small business, how to set-up and run your
business, how to file and pay your taxes using a computer, and what you need to know when you
run your business out of your home. Part 2 covers; how to set up a retirement plan, what you
need to know about federal taxes when hiring, How to manage your payroll and proper
withholdings, how to make tax deposits and file your payroll taxes using a computer, and what
you need to know about federal unemployment taxes.
