The unit consists of a watch, chest transmitter with strap and very
helpful manuals. Having used a number of different HRMs, while at
HEART RATE MONITOR REVIEW, I found this one very easy to
set up and get started. Within minutes I had the watch ready and set
with all of my heart settings including my max heart rate and zone
intensity (shown in the manual how to find your heart information). I
took it on a bike ride to try it out and was pleasantly surprised with
its results. It tracked my heart rate continuously, and let me know
how long I stayed “In the Zone.” There are five zones, that are
customizable based on your Max Heart Rate.

With power sport timing and heart rate monitoring features, this mid-
sized Timex Digital Fitness watch (model T5J031) can be worn by
both men and women. It features a chest strap heart rate monitor,
easily accessible function buttons, durable resin case, and
comfortable resin strap. For integrating heart rate monitoring into
your training, this watch enables you to track your average heart rate
and pre-set target heart rate zones with data for time spent within
that zone and alarms. It can also display data for calories burned
and offers a recovery timer that measures your heart rate after a
timed recovery during or after your workout.

Sport timing features include:
• 100-hour chronograph with lap and split, either in large digits
• 27-lap memory with average heart rate per laps
• 100-hour countdown timer
• Alarm with 5-minute backup
• Month/day/date display with 12/24-hour time
• up to 2-year battery life

Other features that HEART RATE MONITOR REVIEW considers of
use are:
• Indiglo night-light to uniformly light the surface of the watch
dial. The Night Mode feature   allows you to illuminate the night-light
for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or
• water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet)–suitable for swimming but
not for diving.
• batteries can be replaced by consumers without requiring them to
be returned to the manufacturer.

The manual on zone training and the exercises for determining max
heart rate is a very helpful addition. We, at HEART RATE MONITOR
REVIEW, have now used it for jogging, biking, and on the elliptical
and are quite pleased with it.

This model even got Consumers Report (CR) Best Buy. A great,
cheap, effective and a reliable heart rate monitor. It is easy to use
and durable. Wear it for all exercise, a great product –works well
and does what it is supposed to do. The heart sensor strap is soft
and comfortable and easily adjusts to different lengths. All-in-all I
couldn’t be more satisfied with this unit especially for the price.
HEART RATE MONITOR REVIEW definitely recommends this
product to anyone who needs a training aid for any form of

Here’s what some of the owners had to say about the Timex-

I want accurate heart rate readings; I want to know when I’m
below or above my set zone (the alarm is audible even when
wearing ear buds and listening to my ipod); I want to know how
many calories, how long in my zone, recovery rate, and
minimum/maximum heart rate readings during my workout.
This watch delivers all of that and more.

I found this model to be extremely easy to use and comfortable to
wear. I never take it off my wrist. When I’m not exercising, and
don’t need the heart rate monitor feature, it’s a great fully
functional sport watch. I highly recommend this model for
anyone looking for an easy to use heart rate monitor.
