Time has passed that the OWWA officer in charge Maam Rose needed her service in Philippine and has to leave Ko-
rea. But, of course the chair is always occupied by somebody. Came to Korea last November, 2011 the new OWWA offic-
er in charge named Ms. Virsie B. Tamayao, she was born in October 14, 1961, married with four children. She was original-
ly born in Tuao, Cagayan. Maam Virsie Tamayao studied MASTER OF SCIENCE IN SOCIAL WORK at St. Paul University,
Tuguegarao City. She worked as a REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER since 1982. It’s a pleasure to have her and know her better….

FIRST IMPRESSION ABOUT KOREA:
THE BEAUTY OF KOREA IS PEOPLE-TOURIST FRIENDLY. WITH THE BEAUTIFUL AMBIANCE AND SURROUNDINGS KOREA HAS TO OFFER, AS
WELL AS THE AVAILABILITY OF MODERN FACILITIES AND AMENITIES, IT IS THE BEST PLACE TO VISIT FOR R & R.

ANO ANG KAIBAHAN NG MGA PILIPINO DITO SA KOREA, SA MGA BANSANG UNANG NAPUNTAHAN BILANG WELFARE OFFICER?

FILIPINO WORKERS ARE TYPICALLY THE SAME WHERE EVER THEY ARE. THEIR BEING A FILIPINO HAS NEVER BEEN SEPARATED NOR DISINTEGRAT-
ED IN THEIR SYSTEM. THEY ARE THE SAME GOOD-NATURED FILIPINOS WHO POSSESS HOSPITALITY, MAKABAYAN AND BAYANIHAN SPIRIT. WHAT
MAKES THEM DIFFERS IS THAT THE NATURE OF THEIR EMPLOYMENT AND THE LIMITATIONS WHILE EMPLOYED IN A CERTAIN COUNTRY.

IN UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (UAE), THERE ARE MORE PRESSING ISSUES AND PROBLEMS OF OFWs THAT ARE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE
PHIL OVERSEAS LABOR OFFICE. THIS MAY ACCOUNT TO THE EMPLOYMENT OF HOUSEHOLD SERVICE WORKERS (HSW) WHO ARE VULNERABLE TO
CONTRACT VIOLATIONS AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. PROOF OF THIS IS THE INCIDENCE OF MANY RUNAWAY/DISTRESS WORKERS. AN AVERAGE OF
50 CASES EVERY MONTH ARE SHELTERED IN THE POLO CENTER FOR REPATRIATION ASSISTANCE.
