Student Government Handout (Editorial Revision) Campaign Guidelines You can hang banners, posters, make speeches, and hand out leaflets to potential voters All campaign literature must be approved by Mr. _______and must have his signature or initial before you can distribute or post it. No negative campaigning No Bribes of potential voters Do not destroy a candidate’s campaign literature Campaign period begins on Monday November 1 and ends Wednesday November 10, 2004. Speeches Executive committee You will have a general assembly during the 2nd week of November, date and time, TBA for you speeches Your speech must be “cleared” by Mr. Doe before you deliver it to the school or class. Speeches must be no longer than 8 minutes You must be appropriately dressed Class representatives You will deliver your speech during 5th hour Wednesday November 10. Your speech must be “cleared” by Mr. ________ before you deliver it to the school or class. Speeches must be no longer than 5 minutes Students must be appropriately dressed Election Day Student government general election will be held on Thursday November 11, 2004 during 7th hour Winners will be announced on Monday November 15th Student Government will convene on Monday November 29, time TBA Term All officers will serve for a period of one school calendar year beginning in mid August of the school year and terminate at the end of the school year in June. However, for the 2003-2004 school year, officers will serve for a partial school year beginning mid November and terminate at the end of May. There are no term limits (i.e candidates can run more than one term for a office)
