                 Reminder:
Test administrators are required to sign only
     ONE oath for the 2012 testing year.

 All oaths are valid for 2012 spring, summer, and
fall testing, as well as any field testing conducted
               during this time period.
             TA RESPONSIBILITIES
Training
    Review manual, attend training, sign oath


Prepare for Testing
    Prepare testing room, review rosters, complete seating charts, prepare test
      materials for distribution, inventory all test materials before and after testing.

Conduct Test Administration
    Ensure proper testing procedures


Complete Administration Process
    Verify all information is complete before returning all test materials to testing
      coordinator
            TA RESPONSIBILITIES

 Follow the directions as written in the appropriate manual VERBATIM, do
  not deviate!


 If labels with student names are placed on test booklets, students MUST
  write their name in the space marked “STUDENT NAME” as stated in the
  directions manual.

 Actively monitor at all times to ensure students are testing in the
  appropriate section of the test booklet and bubbling onto the answer
  document.
           TA RESPONSIBILITIES

Seating charts
    Must use TEA seating chart
    Must be legible and complete with test booklet numbers
    Time notated of IN/OUT for all TAs including relievers
    Consolidation of testing rooms, complete new seating chart

    Must use “Absence Verification Form”
Test Administration Specifics
       TESTING TIMES

 Daily start by 9:30 AM
 Daily end time 7:00 PM


 TAKS is untimed
 No 4-hour time block


 Late arriving students
    Test if no interaction with a completed tester
    Test if can complete test by 7:00 PM
          EXIT LEVEL RETEST

 ELA: Dictionaries and thesaurus are allowed during reading and written
       composition and NOT allowed during revising and editing.
       ESL Dictionary allowed for ESL students.

 MATH: Graphing calculators must be provided for EVERY student


 SCIENCE: Access to four-function, scientific, or graphing
           calculator (minimum 1 for every 5)

    All calculators used must be cleared before and after testing.
        ELA RETEST

 English-language dictionary and thesaurus allowed during reading and
  written composition portions only (at least 1 for every 5).

 Only after dictionaries and thesauruses have been collected can
  students break the second seal on the test.

 ONLY at the request of a student may the writing prompt be read
  aloud or signed.

 Approved ESL dictionary (uses simple English and picture-based) may
  be provided for LEP students.
         PRIMARY ADMINISTRATION

 SOCIAL STUDIES: No reference materials


 MATH: Graphing calculators must be provided for EVERY student


 SCIENCE: Access to four-function, scientific, or graphing
                 calculator (minimum 1 for every 5)


 All calculators used must be cleared before and after testing.

 LAT: Linguistically Accommodated Testing
     ◦ Assess recent immigrant ELLs who are determined to be LEP-exempt from
      TAKS testing
     ◦ LAT available in ELA, math, and science

     ◦ Answer documents coded “L” in March


 Score code only “L” on answer document
 Complete LAT info columns A and B

 Additional training must be provided to LAT TAs on Appendix A of directions
  manual

 ELA LAT is a 2 day test
      Grade 10 LAT

LAT option will NOT show up in Testing Database.

Communicate with LPAC coordinator to
 determine if any students are eligible.

Band ELA LAT answer documents SEPARATE.
   LAT students will have 2 answer documents
      ELA LAT
      Regular answer document for M, S, SS
           ORAL ADMINISTRATION

Determine level of reading support for test administrator to:

1.     Read few words or phrases at student request OR
2.     Read multiple sentences throughout test at student request OR
3.     Read the test in its entirety

Student may request a change in the level of reading, but must be documented.

     Additional training must be provided to Oral TAs to review Appendix D in
                                  directions manual.
            RETEST ANSWER DOCUMENTS

 Must bubble “P” for previous pass if student has previously mastered that
  specific TAKS test.

 Must sort answer documents by grade level:
    11th
    12th
          ANSWER DOCUMENTS

 TAKS “TEST TAKEN INFO” Field:
      Identify test: TAKS or TAKS-ACC




 Test Form must be bubbled for each test
          SCORE CODE
   A    Absent
   L    LEP-exempt bubbled if took LAT
   O    Testing irregularity, illness during test, foreign exchange

       NON-ADA AND OOS

 All non-ADA 12th graders will test at Johnson CTR.


 Results are still reported back to home campus in OOS
  reports.

 Once OOS student passes all exit tests, the last home
  campus where credits were earned awards diploma.

 Student must contact home campus to request diploma.
         IRREGULARITIES TO AVOID
 KNOW YOUR STUDENTS!

 Utilize testing database and confirm information with special population
  coordinators (Special Ed, LPAC, 504, etc.).

 Double check student rosters, campus enrollment, answer documents and

  test booklets   REPEATEDLY.
 Ensure special ed. students receive correct booklet (TAKS, TAKS-ACC, TAKS-
  M).

 Be aware of any and all accommodations for all students.

 Check classroom environments.
          MATERIAL RETURN

Place ALL hand-gridded answer docs on top. Primary example:
    10th
    11th


Do NOT mix Primary TAKS materials with RETEST materials.

Maintain all required campus documentation in binder.
