210 B.C. - One of the earliest findings of a
necktie was in the mausoleum of China's
first emperor, Shih Huang Ti.
In 113 A.D. - Roman Emperor Trajan
erected a marble column with figures on
the column wearing three styles of
neckwear.
The French Word for tie, cravat, is thought
to be a corruption of the word “Croat” for
the Croatian mercenaries who wore silk
kerchiefs around their necks.
