           Carl W. Burt Memorial Field
Manchester College renamed the football field Carl
           W. Burt Memorial Field on Oct. 8, 1988, after the legend-
ary football coach who guided the Spartans to 15 winning
seasons in his 17 years of coaching. Burt, who began his
career in 1925, coached the 1932 squad to a 6-1 mark, and
           had back-to-back 7-1 campaigns in 1938 and 1939 before
coaching his last game in 1942.
In changing the name of Kenapocomoco Field to Burt
Field, the College honors the memory of the man who led the
school to four state championships in his career. Burt was a
charter member of the Manchester College Athletic Hall of
           Fame in 1994.
