Last Game: West Michigan defeated Dayton 3-1 on Monday, snapping the Dragons two-game winning streak. The Dragons were no-hit over the first
six innings but had chances to tie or take the lead late in the game, leaving the tying runs in scoring position in the seventh and eighth innings. The
Dragons were 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Steven Moya had his third home run in the last two games for West Michigan. For Dayton, Steve
Selsky had two hits and an RBI and Kurtis Muller had two hits with a run scored. Ryan Wright had a hit to extend his hitting streak to 11 straight games.
Today’s Dragons Starting Pitcher: Dan Jensen makes his fifth start of 2012 after 10 strong relief outings, when he went 1-2, 1.69, 1 Sv. Jensen lost
his last start on Thursday at Lansing when he was uncharacteristically wild (4 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 BB, 1 SO). In Jensen‟s four starts, he is 1-2, 4.58.
Jensen is the first local product to play for the Dragons in franchise history. He played at Centerville High School, Sinclair Community College, and the
University of Cincinnati before being signed by the Reds as a 20th round draft pick in 2011. Jensen pitched at Billings last season, going 1-2, 6.39 in 13
games (two starts) with one start at Bakersfield (0-0, 1.50). At UC in 2011 as a senior, he was 4-5, 3.11 in 15 starts.
Individual Notes
Ryan Wright has an 11-game hitting streak, batting .478 (21 for 44) with eight doubles to raise his average from .273 to .318. He has had at
least two hits in eight of the 11 games. This is the longest hitting streak of the year for a Dragons player and the longest current hitting streak
in the Midwest League. His .478 average is second highest for any hitting streak of 10 games or more in the league this season.
Kyle Waldrop is batting .435 over his last six games (10 for 23) and has hit two homers in his last four games (first two homers of the year).
He has raised his average from .237 to .273.
Kurtis Muller is 12 for 30, .400, with two home runs in seven games since joining the Dragons. He has hit safely in six of the seven games.
Starting pitcher Dan Jensen has become the first Montgomery County native to play for the Dragons in their history. Jensen is from the
Dayton suburb of Centerville.

Manager/Coaches: Delino DeShields is in his second season with the Dragons and fourth year in the Reds organization. He served as the manager of
the Billings Mustangs in the Pioneer League in 2010 and was the hitting coach in Billings in 2009. As a player, DeShields spent 13 years in the Major
Leagues from 1990-2002 with the Expos, Dodgers, Orioles, Cardinals, and Cubs. He finished in the top three in the league in stolen bases six times and
is 46th on the all-time career list with 463. DeShields hit .290 or higher five times. He was the 12th selection of the first round of the June draft in 1987
by Montreal. DeShields finished second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting in 1990…Pitching coach Tom Browning is in his first season
with the Dragons and sixth year as a pitching coach in the Reds organization. Browning threw the only perfect game in Reds history on September 16,
1988. He won 20 games for the Reds in 1985 pitched in the 1991 All-Star Game. He was inducted into the Reds Hall-of-Fame in 2006…Hitting coach
Alex Pelaez is in his second season with the Dragons and third year as a minor league coach with the Reds. He helped the Dragons to a club record
team batting average in 2011 when the team led the league in runs scored. Pelaez played professionally for eight seasons from 1998-2005. He played
in the big leagues in 2002 with San Diego.

reward students for success in the classroom. The use and distribution of the awards we are

offering are entirely up to each teacher. Fourth and Fifth Grade teachers in the three county area
(Clark, Montgomery and Greene counties) receive an award kit to recognize five students in their
*disabled list classroom. Each of the five students selected as a Dayton Dragons MVP in their classroom will
receive four lawn tickets to a special MVP night at Fifth Third Field, a MVP certificate, tickets to a
MVP field day at the park, and a uniquely designed MVP hat. In addition to these items, they also
have the opportunity to have their success story highlighted, throw out a first pitch, have an on-air
radio interview, and participate in an Entertainment skit during a Dragons game. Each year, 900
New Playing Field class rooms participate involving more than 26,000 students with 4,500 Dragons MVP winners.
Over the off-season, the Dragons completed a major
reconstruction of the playing surface, drainage, and irrigation Community All-Stars
system at Fifth Third Field. The project will result in improved The Dragons Community All-Stars Program honors individuals who have gone above and beyond to
playability and aesthetics and faster drainage of excess improve the quality of life in the Miami Valley. From fire fighters to first responders to volunteers and
