   Holocaust Survivor

 Simon Wiesenthal was born on
 December 31, 1908, in Buczacz.




Wiesenthal and his brother went to school in
 Vienna until the Russian retreat from Galicia
 in 1917, when they moved back to Buczacz.
In 1936, Simon married Cyla Mueller
and worked in an architectural office
             in Lvov.
► Aftergraduating high school in 1927, he
 was denied admission to the Polish Lwów
 Polytechnic because of quota restrictions on
 Jewish students.
  Wiesenthal was living in Lwow,
 Poland when World War II began.
► Wiesenthal’s stepfather and stepbrother
 were killed by agents of the NKVD, the
 Soviet state security and secret police.
 Wiesenthal’s mother died in a ghetto in
 1942.
   On April 20, 1943 Adolph Hitler
   celebrated his 54th birthday. In
  honor of this day his guards shot
   and killed 44 Jewish prisoners.
Wiesenthal and three other prisoners were told to paint a sign
  that says "Wir lieben unseren Führer!" (We love our Leader!).
  Two guards caught them and sent them to a wide passage
  with 40 other prisoners. Wiesenthal saw bodies falling dead on
  the floor but suddenly he heard the loudspeaker saying
  "Wiesenthal is needed at the front." He was saved, again.
             After The War
After the war, the Nazis who helped murder
  6,000,000 Jews, Poles, Gypsies, and others
  escaped from Europe and Settled freely in
  other countries around the world.
