                           COMMUNITY TRUANCY BOARD

The Board of Education is committed to supporting community collaborative efforts to
prevent and remedy truancy in its early stages. School personnel, wherever possible
and as much as possible, will seek cooperation from parents and assist parents in
remedying and preventing truancy. As part of this effort, a Board does hereby create the
Little Rock School District Community Truancy Board. Little Rock School District
Community Truancy Board is to serve the Little Rock School District area but is
authorized to collaborate with and work cooperatively with any other community truancy
board in Arkansas.

The general duties of the Little Rock School District Community Truancy Board will
include recommending methods for improving school attendance such as assisting the
parent or the child to obtain supplementary services that might eliminate or ameliorate
the causes for the absences or suggesting to the school district that the child enroll in
another school, an alternative education program, an education center, a skill center, a
dropout prevention program, or another public or private educational program.

The Little Rock School District Community Truancy Board is specifically authorized to
cooperate with efforts within Pulaski County and any adjoining counties to coordinate
efforts and services. It is authorized to work with local, state, and federal government
entities; business sector entities, and community agencies and resources.

The Little Rock School District Community Truancy Board is charged with providing
different perspectives in developing collaborative approaches to addressing truancy
issues. All efforts will be coordinated with District staff designated by the
Superintendent. The designated staff will serve as resource staff to the Little Rock
School District Community Truancy Board.
