             Based in Watford, self-employed basis, flexible hours, £8 per hour

Let’s Talk Grounds Maintenance (LTGM) operates along social enterprise principles within mental
health charity; Herts Mind Network (HMN), that specialises in provision of high quality grounds
maintenance services to organisations across the Borough of Watford and its outlying areas.


An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit Grounds Maintenance Operators to carry out a wide
range of grounds maintenance tasks on behalf of the service.


Individuals will be willing to work reliably and flexibly throughout the year to ensure contracts are
delivered on time and to levels of high quality whilst complying fully with training, health and safety
and environmental standards.


LTGM provides Grounds Maintenance Operator roles for individuals who have current or previous
experience of mental ill health and/or emotional distress. This lived experience is essential for the
role.

Job Title:             Grounds Maintenance Operator

Accountable to:        Let’s Talk Grounds Maintenance Coordinator

Responsible for:       Delivery of high quality grounds maintenance services

Based:                 Borough of Watford (and outlying areas)

Working hours:         Part time - flexible hours

Rate of pay:           £8 per hour



Background to Post:
Let’s Talk Grounds Maintenance (LTGM) operates along social enterprise principles within mental
health charity; Herts Mind Network (HMN), that specialises in provision of high quality grounds
maintenance services to organisations across the Borough of Watford and its outlying areas.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit Grounds Maintenance Operators to carry out a wide
range of grounds maintenance tasks on behalf of the service.
Individuals will be willing to work reliably and flexibly throughout the year to ensure contracts are

and environmental standards.
LTGM provides Grounds Maintenance Operator roles for individuals who have current or previous

role.

Purpose of Post:

   1. To undertake a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks as trained and instructed including
      (though not exclusively);
            Ride-on machine operated lawn mowing and grass cutting
            Push-mower operated cutting of lawns and grass
            Safe handling of petrol/diesel/electrically operated tools, equipment and machinery
            Tidying and neatening grassed areas and verges through use of trimming
            Use of brush-cutters and hedge-cutters for pruning of shrubbery, hedges and vegetation
            Use of pesticides

         Digging, weeding, hoeing, raking, tilling, rotivating, brushing, sweeping, spraying, litter
          picking
         Removal/clearance of leaves, windfall matter, debris and unwanted vegetation
         Snow clearance and gritting of road, pathway and pedestrian surfaces

  2. To drive and operate a wide range of vehicles, plant and equipment including vehicle attached
     machinery, pedestrian and ride on machinery and hand held tools and equipment.

  3. Responsible disposal and clearance of waste, debris and appropriate vegetation from all sites
     to controlled regulated waste disposal sites at the end of each shift.

  4. To safely load/drive, secure and transport grounds maintenance tools, equipment and
     machinery into and out of vehicles at each site.

  5. To undertake cleaning and hosing down of tools, equipment and machinery after each shift.

  6. To ensure tools, equipment, machinery, vehicles and site premises are locked, safe and secure
     at all times.

  7. To maintain grounds maintenance standards of the highest quality at all times.

  8. To work reliably and flexibly throughout the year across every season to deliver the service.

  9. To undertake appropriate training as instructed for health and safety and environmental
     purposes and to adhere to such practice at all times.

  10. To undertake appropriate training for responsible operation and maintenance of tools and
      equipment and to adhere to such practice at all times.

  11. To respond flexibly to grounds maintenance service requests as required.

  12. To complete records required by the organisation.

  13. To maintain professional relationships of the highest quality with clients, clients’
      customers/associates, the public, co-Grounds Maintenance Operators, Herts Mind Network and
      Let’s Talk Grounds Maintenance staff at all times.

  14. To protect, as a contracted representative of Herts Mind Network and Let’s Talk Grounds
      Maintenance the reputation of the organisation and social enterprise at all times and to work
      within and according to its policies, practices and protocols.

  15. To act in accordance with equal opportunities policy.
