Time: God’s Time Zone or Ours
Psalm 90:1-4 (p. 424), 2 Peter 3:8,9 (p.861)
What comes to your mind when I say the word?
Are we enslaved to time?
Managing our time
Something to be organized
Something to be experienced
Be careful of compartmentalizing our lives
God’s Time Zone
God created time (Genesis 1:3-5)
God is above and beyond time
Eternal- no beginning and no end (Rev. 1:8)
God is unchangeable (James 1:17)
He does not age or get better with time
Allows Change in us (2 Peter 3:9)
He is patient
He is relational
God knows all things
Temptation and Time (1 Corinthians 10:13)
Learn to endure
The future is not a mystery to God
God orchestrates time
The Fullness of Time
focus on events
The work of salvation (Galatians 4:4)
God’s timing (2 Peter 3:9)
Be careful of misinterpreting God’s patience
Let God’s timing be a mystery
Reminds us that God is at work (Romans 8:28)
God Can Redeem Our Time
It has been affected by sin
We should set our clocks by God’s time zone!
Does the fact that God knows and sees the past, present and future at the same time bring
comfort? Why or why not?
Why do you think God does not give us specific times and dates for His work among us, (i.e.
when Christ will come again)?
Can you think of a time when your timing and God’s timing didn’t match? How did you
In what ways do you feel enslaved by time? Ask God to set you free and be Lord of your time.
Scripture for Reflection:
Psalm 102:25 -27, Psalm 121:1-4, Isaiah 40:28 – 31, Rev. 1:8
