    Course Descriptions:

1. The Meaning Behind the Mitzvah: Seders for Adults - Danielle Kranjec - Have you ever wondered why we
have 3 matzahs on the table, salt water, parsely, horse radish…? Danielle will guide you through the
normative traditions of the Passover seder and help you understand the power of the rituals beyond the
stories you might have learned as a child. (Offered at 10 and 11 AM.)

2. Haggadah Potpourri: A guided tour through an assortment of Haggadot people might want to buy – Rabbi
Ron Symons - While many people are soulfully attached to their Maxwell House Haggadah, it is important
to remember that the Haggadah is the most printed Jewish book in all of history. This statement is not just
about the quantity of printings, it about the variety of editions. We will look at 6 of Rabbi Symons’ favorite
current Haggadot that you might want to use this Passover. (Only offered at 11 AM.)

3. The Music of the Seder: How To Sing it all... – Sara Stock Mayo - Mah Nishtanah, Chad Gadya, Dayenu…
are among our favorite Passover songs. Sara will guide you through these and more so that you too can
sing your way through the Haggadah. People of all singing experience are welcome to join us.
                                                                                   (Only offered at 10 AM.)

4. How to Run an Interactive Seder for All Ages – Rabbi James Gibson - “Can we eat already?” If you have
heard this question at a seder you have led, you need to join Rabbi Gibson for a host of ideas of how to
make the seder ritual come alive at the adult table, the children’s table… and all tables.
                                                                                        (Only offered at 10 AM.)

5. Charoset from Around The World – Carol Rosenthal and Friends - Beyond apples, walnuts, cinnamon and
sweet wine, Jewish communities from around the world have been making charoset using the unique
ingredients of their locations. Carol and her friends will share with you an assortment of recipes and
tastings that can spice up your seder during this hands on cooking class. (Offered at 10 and 11 AM.)

6. Chametz: What is it? Where is it? Can it be Spiritual? – Monica Cellio - If you are confused about those
yellow caps on the Kosher for Passover Diet Coke bottles, this class is for you. Monica will cut through all
the jargon to help you understand what is and isn’t kosher for Passover. Beyond the technical details, she
will uncover the spiritual concept of chametz and how it is something we want to get rid of every Passover.
                                                                                      (Only offered at 10 AM.)

7. Free at last… Free at last… Thank God Almighty we are free at last! – Louise Mayo - The Passover narrative
has inspired Jews and non-Jews throughout the centuries to fight for freedom. If you would like to bring
this message to your seder through current events that need our freedom fighting attention, join Louise for
his insights into tikkun olam, repairing our world. (Only offered at 11 AM.)

8. Passover Wine Tasting – Brotherhood - With cups of wine at the seder, there are so many choices to make.
Beyond the sweet Manishevitz we have come to love (?), the Brotherhood has amassed quite an array of
tasty Passover wines. You will have your chance to taste them all, learn about why we do drink 4 cups and
order some for your home. (Please designate a driver for your journey home.)
(Offered at 10 and 11 AM.)

9. How to Prepare a Seder and Take a Nap all in The Same Day – Mara Kaplan - Cooking and cleaning and
setting and preparing and dressing and…. OY! If you anticipate this sequence of overwhelming events on
Passover Eve, then you need some advice from Mara who can do it all and take a nap too!
                                                                                   (Only offered at 11 AM.)
